Work is a major part of our livesāand it can have a big impact on our health and wellbeing. Long hours, tight deadlines, social pressure, and work-related stress can all shape our relationship with alcohol in subtle ways.
Work stress can lead to increased drinking ā people often use alcohol to cope with pressure, fatigue, or burnout.
After-work drinks are still common ā while socialising is positive, an alcohol-centric culture may exclude some people or create pressure to drink.
Alcohol affects performance ā even moderate drinking can impact sleep, concentration, decision-making, and emotional wellbeing the next day
Drinking habits may be invisible remote or hybrid working may mask unhealthy patterns or make it harder to spot when someone is struggling.
