Angel Reese is 21-years-old, champ. You’re unwittingly (or maybe not) playing into the “sassy” Black girl trying to be grown.
You correctly assert that Black women are historically marginalised, but you ironically marginalised her by severely underplaying the fact that she’s being attack because she’s a particular type of Black woman—not the villain role she accepts.
That you’d take a gender neutral and racially indifferent take when this is precisely the genesis of the discussion is as intellectually disingenuous and morally bankrupt as you can get.
Furthermore, her grievances have nothing to do with being a villain. She being attacked for racist troupes about inner-city Black women that have nothing to do with basketball.
That you’d not lead with this as the center of your argument reveals more about your dearth of intellectual depth on gender and race than it does about her so-called inability to “take it on the chin.”
Angel Reese doesn’t need to self reflect about courage. It’s YOU!
Black women have historically been the most marginalized group in America, but I’m going to give a gender neutral and racially indifferent take on Angel Reese:
“In sports, you can’t act like the big bad wolf, then cry like courage the cowardly dog.”
