The following is all public record: I just recently learned that Peter DeLucia is running for Broome Co Court judge to replace Judge Cawley who just retired. I think BC voters need to know that when DeLucia worked for the DA's office, he was the Sr. prosecutor in the Veronica Taft case in 2012. Taft was convicted of murder and manslaughter for the death of her 2-year-old son & sentenced to 25 years to life in prison. The problem was, Taft was factually innocent, which was later affirmed by a unanimous decision of the State of New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Third Judicial Department, after Taft spent 5-1/2 years in prison. Both the murder and manslaughter cases were thrown out and she was set free. And struggled to get her three surviving children back. Sadly, DeLucia gave the real killer immunity to testify against Taft. A double tragedy. A woman wrongfully convicted & a killer walked free. I worked as a defense investigator for Taft's attorney. As a former NYSP investigator, I was so disturbed by what happened, I wrote & published Taft's story - 'Immunity for Murder' - The Veronica Taft Story.
