The Mid-Atlantic region lies within a sea level rise “hotspot” where sea levels could rise faster and higher than elsewhere due to a combination of rising seas and sinking land. Sea level rise puts agriculture, infrastructure, water resources and natural resources at risk.

Mark your calendar for the 2025 Blackbird Creek Fall Festival Saturday, Oct. 18, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There is no charge for admission into the festival, which includes information booths, displays, tractor-pulled hayrides, kid-focused crafts, food vendors and local artisans.

Delaware’s National Estuarine Research Reserve is one of 30 coastal sites designated to protect and study estuarine systems in collaboration with and service to surrounding communities. The research reserves cover nearly 1.4 million acres of estuaries nationwide.

National Estuaries Day began in 1988 to promote the importance of estuaries and the need to protect them. In partnership with the National Estuaries Program, National Estuarine Research Reserve Association, Restore America’s Estuaries, and many other organization.
