My daughter Seylah is playing 15U Adidas 3SSB as an 11 year old. This past weekend, she finished as the 2nd leading scorer (18.3ppg) in the first session of Adidas 3SSB in Texas. It was an amazing experience in terms of the competition & seeing all the great coaches and programs.

People argued parity would make the NBA boring and that dynasties are better. Instead, the NBA playoffs are starting to feel like the NCAA Tournament. There are so many legitimate contenders that every postseason feels wide open.

Gonna be a crazy NBA off season but it’s going to be hard not to go into next season with these team rankings: 1) Knicks 2) Spurs 3) OKC Everything else depends on all the moves and signings that happen.

For some reason the chatter and analysis around these playoffs was better than ever: - Inside the NBA guys on ESPN - Bill Simmons going live after games on Netflix. - Guys like @MichaelRedd_ killing it on Twitter. Game overall is in such a good place.

This might end up being true but going into next season Brunson has the belt and the Knicks are the team to beat. They could pull it off again but it’ll be tough. The more important point is how the league and roster building has changed.
Replying to @DRIVEBasketball
They’ll never win another one for 50 years.

How teams will try to mimic the Knicks: Chemistry matters a lot. You need winners & guys willing to sacrifice. Two way wings are gold. Bigs are back. Small guards with length around them can get it done.

Leon Rose just put on a masterclass in roster construction.

Spurs are definitely not a “1-2-3 Cancun” team. These young bucks don’t want to go home and are going to fight hard to keep this series going.

Basketball is still played between the ears. Too much obsession over height and measurables. They matter, but feel, IQ, timing, and decision-making matter too. Some people just know how to play. Brunson is proof.

Youth basketball has confused physicality with fouling. Hand-checking, grabbing and holding are often praised as toughness. It may build grit, but it can also slow skill and IQ development.

The 1995 McDonald’s All-American game still has got to be the GOAT of all Mc D’s games. There was just something different about that one. Baron Davis discusses watching that game over & over on VHS & guys in our generation can all relate. If you haven’t seen it, go to YouTube.

Finishing up “Meal Ticket” a documentary about the McDonald’s All-American game. Stumbled on it accidentally on Amazon Prime, surprised it wasn’t promoted more. Very good doc and recommend it to any hoop head. Features MJ, Grant Hill, Amare and many other superstars.

In a charity game where D was pretty relaxed; when Pip matched up with MJ, most players let them go 1 v 1 (serious) Pip had some good defensive moments, End of the day tho, you can’t deny the result , MJ reigned supreme. GOAT. 🐐 Watch him drive by Pip dunk & throw him the ball

This isn’t that crazy of a tweet when you look closer at who was on the squad and what they have gone on to do in the league. What an assembly of talent.
This might be the greatest roster in NBA history.

It’s too bad the league has shifted from floor general PG’s to creators and scorers at the point. Guys like Rondo, Andre Miller, Jason Kidd, CP3 and even Mark Jackson used to dictate the pace of the game and get the ball where it needed to go. I think there’s still value in that.
on the phone with Pops and he said the Spurs win that game if they had a true PG like Rondo to control the pace of the game.. he said Wemby is a good player but he needs to get a low post move.. and he said Wemby doesn’t like contact and he couldn’t have played against Patrick Ewing and them 🤣 👴🏾

Always have a soft spot in my heart for Mike Brown because many years ago our AAU club was waiting for our rental car at the same time he was in Vegas. Think he was there to watch his son. He was coaching Bron at the time. He sat with us & answered our ?’s for hours. Great dude.

The fact that Mike Brown had Alvarado out there late in the game speaks volumes to his coaching chops. He sat Bridges and let him ride because he was just a bit more dynamic out there and they needed to spread it. He hit a huge 3 that will be forgotten but that helped NY win.

I can’t think of any other play that would’ve went completely different if you ran it back 10 times than OG getting the perfect rebound to tip in there. Only thing that comes to mind is Vlade slapping out that rebound and Horry being right there to catch and shoot that 3.

When there was 5 seconds left & the Knicks were inbounding I said: “this is one of the biggest possessions in NBA history.” The fact that single possessions can mean so much is what makes sports so great. @JonesOnTheNBA talks about monoculture being gone, but it’s alive and well.

This may change how coaches defend late-game inbound situations moving forward. Leaving the inbounder unguarded can come back to haunt you. Maybe we should’ve learned that lesson from Christian Laettner against Kentucky.

Fundamental basketball coaches are loving the end of this game. They can use this game as an example of why you need to box out. Every kid who watched this game should learn a valuable lesson: you need to box out.
