🌿 World Environment Day 2026 at Howrah Division, Eastern Railway 🌿
On the occasion of World Environment Day 2026, Howrah Division, Eastern Railway organized an awareness programme at the New DRM Building on 5th June 2026.
The event commenced with an Environment Day pledge administered by DRM/Howrah, Shri Vishal Kapoor, in the presence of officers and staff members. The pledge reaffirmed the collective commitment of railway personnel towards environmental protection, sustainable living, and the preservation of natural resources for future generations.
Through this pledge, the officers and staff reaffirmed their commitment to adopting eco-friendly practices, minimizing environmental impact, and contributing actively towards a greener and cleaner future. They also pledged to inspire and encourage others to embrace sustainable habits and environmentally responsible practices, thereby fostering a culture of environmental stewardship within the community.

💠 #IndianRailways approves ₹755 Crore Champa-Korba Third Line Project to Enhance Capacity on Key Coal Corridor
💠 The project involves construction of a third railway line between Champa and Korba, excluding the already sanctioned Madwarani-Saragbundia section
💠 The corridor has been identified under Indian Railways’ Mission 3000 MT and High-Density Network (HDN) Corridor initiatives aimed at strengthening freight movement and supporting the country's growing energy requirements
💠 Upon completion, the project is expected to facilitate operation of two additional passenger trains in each direction every day and support additional freight movement of 5.95 MTPA
💠 The project is also projected to generate additional annual net earnings of approximately ₹85 crore, including ₹82 crore from freight traffic and ₹3 crore from coaching services

Committed to enhancing passenger safety, security and comfort, Howrah Division, Eastern Railway has successfully completed a comprehensive illumination improvement drive at Gobra Station.
💡 Key initiatives undertaken include:
• Installation of 74 LED battens on platforms and FOB
• Provision of 38 outdoor LED fittings across station premises
• Installation of 12 high-intensity outdoor lights for enhanced safety and security
• Trimming of tree branches to improve visibility and lighting effectiveness
• Reinstallation of water coolers at Platform Nos. 3 & 4 (BWN End) for passenger convenience
These efforts have resulted in a significant increase in illumination levels across platforms, circulating areas, FOB and level crossing approaches, creating a brighter, safer and more passenger-friendly station environment.
At Howrah Division, every improvement is aimed at making railway travel safer, more comfortable and more convenient for our passengers.

In line with Howrah Division’s commitment to enhancing passenger amenities and safety, a comprehensive illumination upgrade has been successfully completed at Gobra (GBRA) Station following inspection and prompt action.
🔹 Key Improvements Undertaken:
💡 74 LED battens installed on platforms and FOB
💡 38 outdoor LED fittings provided to eliminate dark zones
💡 12 high-intensity outdoor lights installed for improved visibility and safety
🌳 Tree trimming carried out for better lighting coverage

📈 These initiatives have resulted in an impressive 103% increase in illumination levels, significantly enhancing passenger comfort, security, and overall station ambience.
