PSA 🚨 Been hearing the word “rug” loosely thrown around a lot around @alienfrens lately. Wanted to share my thoughts 🤷 I can understand some people being upset - if you loaded your bags on any PFP in 2022 your P&L is 💩. But because you bought high while you held for the next NFT cycle… which never came… does not make it a rug. A rug is a blatant scam. It’s a build up then complete breakdown of trust. It’s not delivering on any promises. It’s thieves knowingly stealing money from the people who lifted them up and invested in them as founders. You are outright out of your mind if you think the above describes the AF team. Maybe Frens should have asked opensea to slap a disclaimer on every alien fren when someone adds to cart that says “bro this is a picture of a cartoon alien are you sure you want to spend $1000”? They didn’t do that. But we talked about what they didn’t do… how about what they DID do? Frens opened up the world of NFTs and web3 to myself and countless others who vibed with the art and then fell in love with the community. I’ve met some of the people I respect most in this world from the Frens community. I’ve referred frens to work at my company IRL. I’ve seen Frens fall in love and get married and have little baby AFEs together. I’ve met with @SeanOhio_ several times over Zoom and text and he’s always gone above and beyond to help me along my journey in creating the go-to web3 crm in hubspot. I’ve retweeted hundreds of pictures of IRL Frens-hosted events and am in 10 Frens-specific GCs. I’ve also generated an insane amount of Fren Coin over the years from soft staking my frens that I used to get literally hundreds of tshirts hoodies plushies pins stickers hats hot sauce coffee other shit and valuable NFTs as well. Yes they were notoriously slow to deliver 😂 but never once was I not SO STOKED to crack a Frens package delivery. Very few projects gave back more actual tangible value to holders than Frens in the Marketplace heyday. Yes I’ve spent thousands of dollars on my big bag of naked Frens. Could I have spent that money elsewhere? Of course. Could I have made more money elsewhere? Looking back on it I should have put it all on KC to win the Super Bowl in overtime. TLDR: Frens could never be a rug because to be a rug the community has to have given up on the team and project.
