Today, I’m announcing my candidacy for Florida’s 20th congressional district. I’ll continue to use my seniority in Washington to make Broward a safer, less expensive place to live, raise a family, and retire. We cannot let Trump and DeSantis take away Broward County’s power.

I shared my message to lower food, housing and healthcare costs and continue my record of delivering services and job-creating projects to Broward families at the @ULBroward Mobilizing the Movement debate last night. Thank you to all the organizers and attendees.

The King’s Point Caribbean American Club showcased the wonderful food, spirit and proud history of a wonderful community at its potluck event. Broward is much richer for having this strong Caribbean American presence, and this event was a great celebration of its heritage.

What a great celebration of community, culture and Juneteenth history at the 25th annual Blues & Sweet Potato Pie Festival in Pompano Beach! The baking competition, tug-of-war, hula hoops and other activities made a perfect afternoon.

“She goes to as many activities as possible for the veterans, and she’s able to engage with our veteran community.” Proud to have the support of an Air Force veteran and leader in Broward’s veteran community like Loretta Young.

Wonderful to join FLoatarama once again! Because of all their hard work and generosity, at-risk LGBTQ youth groups will get much needed grants to help their programs. With every GOP cut, the LGBTQ community gets hit harder, so we must unite to reverse this cruelty.

Thank you to Hopewell Baptist Church for welcoming me into your church and community. When we see the world’s chaos around us, it’s clear why Dr. Stanley’s powerful ministries and this amazing congregation are such an anchor for our entire community.

I had a great time at the Lauderdale Lakes Caribbean American Unity Fest! Broward’s Caribbean community brings so much delicious food, vibrant music, and culture to South Florida. I’ll celebrate them during Caribbean Heritage Month and all year round.

Ten years ago 49 lives were stolen in the tragic mass murder at Pulse nightclub in Orlando. My heart is with the victims and their loved ones on this solemn day. Today must serve as a reminder to ensure that love conquers hate, and the epidemic of gun violence comes to an end.

It can’t be overstated how critical Broward’s Caribbean community is to our everyday life. Their food, music, ingenuity and culture help make South Florida a much more wonderful place to live. So glad to celebrate Caribbean Heritage Month in Lauderhill!

Honored to join the Men of Tomorrow’s Legacy of Scholars Golf Classic! As our world gets more stressful, we need events like this to bring the community together, get outside and have a good time with neighbors. The scholarship and mentorship it promotes are inspiring.

I had a great time celebrating Broward’s wonderful LGBTQ community at Oakland Park #Pride! As extremists in Washington and Tallahassee attack LGBTQ rights, we must work to protect EVERY American — and I always will.
