The battle for the future of the internet isn't just technical It's about who owns the infrastructure, who sets the rules, and whether users have any say in the systems they depend on Web3 isn't a fight for better apps It's a fight for digital agency → web3summit.com

When content is tied to a server, whoever runs the server controls access. @Polkdot indexes content by hash, not by server location. Anyone with the identifier can retrieve it. No single platform controls access. Storage expires when you no longer need it, and renews when you do. Static sites, media assets, and application data. Available, censorship-resistant, and retrievable by anyone.

In 1964, Radio Caroline started broadcasting from a ship in international waters off the UK coast. Why? Because the UK radio system was heavily centralized and controlled by the BBC monopoly. Much of contemporary music simply couldn’t get airtime.

For a decade, we have been building the platform. The next chapter is what gets built on top. And there is no better place to test what that looks like than the Web3 Summit. Decentralized apps, private by default, and open to everyone. June 18–19. Berlin. web3summit.com/

Polkadot App 👀
Very few communities can deliver a fully web3-native platform. Polkadot is one of them. Be among the first to test what we're building. Be part of the movement. Web3 Summit, Berlin, 18–19 June.

Every app you use adds to a profile you never consented to. Clicks, purchases, and searches are linked across platforms through a single visible identity. @Web3Foundation identified 129 companies across banking, insurance, AI, and advertising that build their business models on personal data. @Polkadot's account derivation is a native feature of Substrate's sr25519 cryptography. One root identity. App-specific accounts are generated automatically. No manual selection, no cross-app profile. Your activity stays yours. We are building user ownership at the infrastructure layer.

Privacy is the foundation of a free society. “Arguing that you don’t care about privacy because you have nothing to hide is like arguing that you don’t care about free speech because you have nothing to say.” ~ Edward Snowden (@Snowden)

JAM continues progressing from research to real implementation. Independent JAM implementations are now being x-rayed through automated conformance fuzzing systems designed to scrutinize state transition function against the canonical JAM Gray Paper specifications. The objective is to surface discrepancies between implementations, identify edge cases, and verify that independent clients faithfully follow the protocol standards defined in the Gray Paper.

Data may become the most powerful asset of the 21st century. Yuval Noah Harari (@harari_yuval) raises an important question: what happens when someone outside your country knows everything about its leaders? Not just their public actions, but their medical history, private conversations, personal weaknesses and mistakes. If that information can be collected, analyzed, and used at scale, influence starts to look very different. You don't need troops at the border when you already understand the people making the decisions. For generations, countries protected their sovereignty by defending their territory. In the decades ahead, protecting data may be just as important. In the future, sovereignty won't be defined only by borders and governments. It will be defined by who controls the data. If data is the foundation of power, privacy must become part of the foundation of society.

Polkadot ecosystem fundamentals: modularity, interoperability and shared security.
Monolithic chains run everything in one shared environment. Same constraints, congestion, and limitations for every application built on top. @Polkadot's modular design separates execution domains. Each rollup chain defines its own logic, governance, and state. Shared security and interoperability come included. Building with the Polkadot SDK means: • Isolated execution domains. • Shared security via NPoS and ELVES. • Native cross-chain communication through XCM.

Privacy is a human right. Not a preference. Not a feature. Not something to trade away for convenience. Freedom, agency, and speech must be built into the infrastructure from the start, not patched in later.
Privacy isn’t about hiding, it’s about protecting a right that matters even when you think you don’t need it. Edward Snowden (@Snowden) called this years ago. It’s only more relevant now.

Building a better internet starts with better principles. Privacy, ownership, and user control remain core ideas across the Polkadot ecosystem. The vision is as relevant as ever.
