You're not being slick Falcom, I'm onto you now. You just base everything off this one film huh? You thought I'd never find out?

Castle in the Sky (1986): 7.7/10 Initially wanted to check this out because I heard Ys was largely inspired by it. There's a lot of parallels, and while I wish the script would take a chill pill every once in awhile, I love this world and aesthetic too much.

It's not even just this. I could probably draw a parallel from every song to a trails or ys song. They really just ripped this movie.

Send Help (2026): 7.8/10 This film definitely surprised me. The concept of having the protagonist and antagonist (in a way) swap roles about halfway through the film to highlight corruption is really cool. Sam Raimi maintains his style too, with some crazy shocking violence.

Gamera vs. Gyaos (1967): 5.8/10 Not a huge fan of the B-plot in this. It's a very problematic and corporate message. Otherwise, this film is pretty great. The suits are great, the combat is really well staged, and I enjoy all the little effects like the blood from both kaiju.

As much as I'm enjoying valkyria chronicles, there's some creative decisions I just find beyond obnoxious. Why does my tank feel like the most vulnerable unit in my squad AND YOU FORCE ME TO USE IT

I have seen a comical number of kaiju films

A humble story about how you should give up your home to help build a highway for your nation. (Gyaos is so cool though)

Larping trails and ys in one sentence..... guy has never even looked at those series
I usually just laugh at this guys opinion because he's a doomer like his brother, but damn most of what he said has truth to it.

That's a sacrilegious sentence

It's been long enough, I think I'm nearly ready to give metroid a shot again

From aesthetics I should love this, but I'm just not typically a metroidvania guy

This film has a very interesting legacy. Mainly, George Lucas has listed it among the main inspirations for Star Wars. It's not hard to see it either. There are near one to one comparisons to Leia, Obi-Wan, R2D2, and C3P0. It's fun to see the things that George Lucas saw.

The Hidden Fortress (1958): 8.5/10 A bit of a goofy Kurosawa film. I'm not used to his stuff featuring ao much comedy. All the performers bring the heat as always, but I think watching this and Seven Samurai so close makes me appreciate the range of Toshirō Mifune.

Metaphor has an extremely layered plot with its topics. I hear a lot of people stop playing early saying its just a "racism bad" story, which is an element of it, but if that's all you got.... i think you may be illiterate.
I really don’t understand this metaphor isn’t a good game narrative persona and megaten twitter have been trying to push what is there to even dislike
