Classic Blairite delusion. Blair accelerated deindustrialisation, trashed decent jobs, increased the trade deficit, deregulated the banks and kept on blowing up the housing bubble, introduced university tuition fees as interest-bearing loans then tripled them, involved us in an illegal invasion of a sovereign nation that fomented terrorism on British soil, set up corrupt PFI schemes, privatised and indebted elements of the NHS, and relieved poverty slower than deindustrialisation was causing it, thus falling way short of his target by 2010. When 2008 erupted on us, Blair had left us in a very vulnerable position that gave Cameron more excuses for austerity.

I share this view. I believe Burnham's been drafted in to 'save' the Labour Party so it can carry on much as before, with a few cosmetic redrafts. #VoteGreen๐Ÿ’šin the Makerfield by-election.
I have this itching in my brain that won't go away about Burnham. They stood aside and let him in. A Labour Together minister stepped down for him. After seeing all the sht in Owen Jones' recent FOI I don't trust that Burnham isn't another Labour Together candidate built up to -

Interesting occurrence yesterday. โ€ข TV Cameras fixated on Downing Street entrance noticed Chuka Umunna going in. โ€ข No.10 responded that it was just a โ€œroutine meetingโ€ and not leadership linked. โ€ข Turns out Chuka has routine meetings at No.10 on behalf of JP Morgan.

On behalf of their client, Zara Sultana, Bindmans Media and Information Law Practise Group requires that I publish the following statement on X, and that such statement must be clearly visible and pinned to my profile for a continuous period of no less than 24 hours: โ€œOn 30 March 2026, I published a post on my X account addressed to Zarah Sultana in which I stated that she encourages and incites violence and is friends with terrorists. Those statements are false. I was wrong and offer my sincere apologies to Ms Sultana for the harm and distress caused to her.โ€ It is my very great pleasure to do this, and I reiterate my sincere and repeated offer to meet with Miss Zara Sultana in person to resolve our differences.

I'm personally thrilled by this result; Lewisham deserves a better party to represent them. This was the stomping ground of Ellie Reeves, Heidi Alexander, Damien Egan, Vicky Foxcroft, Janet Daby, and Joanie Reid in 2018/2019. Congratulations to @LiamShrivastava ๐Ÿ’š
The Green Party has taken control of Lewisham Council, with 39 of the 54 seats declared. Political Correspondent @robpowellnews has the latest. Politics latest: trib.al/xMPxG06 ๐Ÿ“บ Sky 501 and YouTube

Hahahahah! Just seen this on FB: ---- Have you found yourself in the hideous position of having a Reform councillor? Hereโ€™s how you can help your brand new councillor settle into local government properly: email them this week with an actual council problem to solve. Got rubbish piling up? Email them. Bus vanished from existence? Email them. Streetlights dead? Email them. Care package delayed? Email them. Pavement like the Somme? Email them. Send them in by the hundred. Make sure theyโ€™re made very clear on what their job is. Being a councillor is not standing in front of the Union flag shouting about dinghies on GB News. Itโ€™s reading committee papers at midnight, attending meetings nobody enjoys, holding surgeries in church halls, and dealing with the endlessly glamorous world of drains, social care budgets and recycling disputes. Welcome to local government. The boats are in Kent. The bins are in your ward. The email address for your ward councillor can be found on your local council website as soon as itโ€™s updated. Feel free to copy and paste to share wider.

The Labour Together cabal will protect their faction even if it means torching the Labour Party.
The hardest thing to understand about Keir Starmer refusing to resign is just โ€œwhyโ€ โ€” he doesnโ€™t have a vision, he isnโ€™t committed to anything, heโ€™s a completely empty, brittle, wooden man. What is he motivated by? Why does he want this? Is it just feeling big and important?

Thanks for the reminder, Paul. #VoteGreen today for this to happen!๐Ÿ’š On house building, @uklabour has prioritised developers over people's needs. Immediately after taking office, @uklabour raised capped bus fares by 50%, from ยฃ2 to ยฃ3.
What if there was a party that just wanted to unite people, build council houses and make bus fares cheaper. Crazy idea I know - but should we give it a try?
