The suspect in the Belfast knife attack entered the UK in 2023 and was granted refugee status the same year. The minister responsible for asylum and immigration policy in 2023 was Robert Jenrick. He resigned in November 2023 arguing the government wasn't being tough enough. Reform will blame Labour. The timeline doesn't support that.

This is such a bad take. This “deal” (extortion, really) was DOA, Zelenskyy was expected to give everything for nothing.
The goal was capitulation or humiliation. Zelenskyy walking was the best thing he could've done in the scenario.
God this is awful. For three years Zelenskyy has been a public relations genius. But this is not how you play Trump.

Open criticism of policy from defence analyst Ellwood here is great and all but, as Dodds acknowledges, the money has to come from somewhere and choices had to be made.
The aid budget should be resettled ASAP but for the immediate future, hard power has to take priority.
