It is nice growing flowers for yourself. It is even nicer growing flowers to be able to give them to other people. Today these were gifted to a friend. #allotment 💐

The reaction to the social media ban in the parent WhatsApp groups I’m in is ‘but why are these ones exempt?’ And let’s talk about edtech – the govt is going one way on social media but another on screens in classrooms and for homework, which now expects kids to have iPads and play addictive games on them: politicshome.com/news/articl…

We need more RE teachers! RE is an academically diverse subject. My philosophy degree inspired my passion for teaching about big ideas and exploring themes such as ethics and meaning with young people. Find out more about becoming a RE teacher here👇 natre.org.uk/how-do-i-become…

I started my teacher training in 2017. Last month, there was only me and one other person who I did my PGCE with that was still teaching. Now, I am the only person who was on my course that is still a teacher today. The speed teachers leave the profession is immense.

How outrageous from the Treasury. We could raise taxes or end the triple lock for rich pensioners, or go after the super rich...

I’m going back to school in September (one day a week)! I was close to studying horticulture at 16. It only took 27 years for me to finally get there. 🌱 🧑🏻‍🌾 🪴

Blame Taylor Swift, while ignoring the total failure to fund and support the vital work of CAMHS.
New: The DfE is now citing Taylor Swift gig‑related absences among Year 9–10 girls as evidence for a tougher line on “one‑off” days off. The new focus comes after the latest official data showed severe absences reached a record high last year. @tes tes.com/magazine/news/genera…

When will exam boards be held to account? This seems to happen multiple times, year after year. It's not acceptable.

Year after year exam boards make millions of pounds out of schools and do a terrible job but we just have to make the best of it. It’s not good enough. How about a non-profit making approach that actually delivers?

I would even settle for looking at what could be fixed! I have lots of pieces in my feed praising "incisive" analysis of what is wrong and it's starting to feel a bit indulgent/low-hanging fruit. Analysis that is hopeful is not naive it's just harder to do & get a hearing for

Last year's teacher pay deal was published on the 22nd May. This year the Secretary of State (correctly) asked the STRB to bring forward their recommendations so that schools would be better able to plan ahead and "fully reset the timeline in 2026-27".

Does anyone sit with KS for 10 minutes and explain what this will do to the rock bottom morale of actual teachers? That profession who are running on vapours but are expected to completely turn around the lives of our broken, pandy addled children. This government is lost

Firefighters worked hard overnight and have now fully extinguished this fire in #Bermondsey. At its height, the fire involved a large amount of refuse and the roof of a warehouse. A van and a car were destroyed by the fire. One man was treated on scene. Photo from 2300.

the concept of being “taken for a cuppa” by 5Pillars
I’ve been reflecting on this, and the best advice I can give is just get out and talk to some gay people. Take a gay for a cuppa. Have a chat. Ignorance creates division, but we are all humans. There is no place for homophobia in the UK, just like there is no place for Islamophobia. Make bridges, not fences!
