We’re making historic investments in education — and the results speak for themselves. Here in Scranton, their nearly 40% increase in state funding has allowed them to bring back a pre-school program, repair and upgrade school buildings, expand career and technical education, and so much more. And on top of all of that, at Isaac Tripp Elementary last year, attendance increased by 7.6%, math PSSA scores were up 7%, and science PSSA scored jumped 10%. That’s a hell of a lot of progress we’ve made together — and we’re not slowing down.

There are more than 3,000 open teaching positions in child care centers across Pennsylvania — and if we filled those openings, 25,000 more kids could have access to the care their families need. But when working parents can’t access reliable child care, parents can’t get back to work, businesses lose out on great employees, and kids lose the early learning opportunities that help set them up for success. Let’s come together, invest in our child care workers, and grow our economy.

Last year, we worked to make child care more affordable by expanding the Child Care Tax Credit to ensure more families could afford child care in communities across Pennsylvania. But we still don’t have enough child care providers to meet our needs. My budget helps solve that problem with a $55 million investment to give recruitment and retention bonuses to child care workers — keeping more of them in the profession and encouraging more Pennsylvanians to care for our littlest ones.

We've come together over the last two years to solve real problems — and my budget builds on that foundation. We repaired more poor-condition bridges than any other state — now let’s invest nearly $300 million in public transit because everyone deserves a transportation network that gets you to work and home again safely. We delivered student teacher stipends for the first time ever to hire more teachers — now let’s support our childcare, direct care, and health care workers. We delivered funding for over 800 new @PAStatePolice Troopers to help bring violent crime down — now let’s add another 4 cadet classes for the @PAStatePolice. We secured an additional $1.1 billion in economic development, bringing back $3 billion in private investment in just two years — now let’s follow through on my plan to cut business taxes by $10.5 billion by 2029. We invested a historic $11 billion in K-12 education and created a new adequacy formula to push it to the schools that need it most — let’s continue that progress with an another $526 million through that formula.
