Not sure he has anything to make up for. Is the leading Pak Test batter over the last 3 years (including on tough home surfaces). This Bang series is literally his first ordinary series behind the stumps in forever. Other formats sure, but in Tests any criticism is misdirected.
Mohammad Rizwan today looked like a man trying to compensate for all the mistakes and criticism that had followed him in recent times. The innings carried intent, responsibility and belief. Had Salman Agha not fallen at that stage, Pakistan’s hopes might have stayed alive a little longer.
Now the question is: can Rizwan turn the impossible into possible tomorrow? It feels almost unrealistic from here, but cricket has always been a game that leaves room for miracles. And if Rizwan somehow pulls this off, it could become one of the most memorable and defining comebacks of his career, a chance for him to win back the hearts of cricket fans, once again.
