Don't you wish CEOs knew what was in their HC benefits, brokers and consultants contracts? I bet they can add more cash flow by paying attention to this than 90 pct of the things they want to do for their business today I'm still amazed that VCs and PE don't use reducing benefits costs as a source of cash. It's easy
📢Testimony Reveals Per-Script Payments to Benefit Consultants In testimony before Congress, Christin Deacon, a former benefits plan manager, testified: “In one example… CVS Caremark agreed to pay [a benefits consultant] $2.50 per retail prescription and $7 per mail and specialty prescription filled by the group health plan members. This dynamic does not reward reducing cost, nor does it reward reducing utilization. It rewards increased volume and handsomely rewards increased volume filled through those channels that generate the highest profits for PBMs and their affiliates.” VIDEO ▶️ : youtube.com/watch?v=jNXHzZN_… Her written testimony includes screenshots of the 📄 documents supporting her claim and can be found here: aprx-public-static-assets.s3…   These amounts are often far higher than what pharmacists are paid for dispensing actual medicine to patients.

I don’t think people realize how much healthcare costs are driving big companies to fire and not hire. It costs them $30k per family, per year for premiums and care. Most of that goes to the massive, vertically integrated insurance companies that send weekly bills that no one reviews in details. And it doesn’t include the company overhead to deal with it all. It’s usually the 2nd largest expense after payroll. Which is insane It’s far easier to blame AI than it is to blame Healthcare costs. Want to increase jobs, wages and improve affordability for every American ? Break up the biggest insurance companies. Make divest non insurance companies. They don’t need thousands of subsidiaries. That’s how they game and abuse the system and increase costs for all of us. Call your senator and tell them to support the BreakUp Big Medicine Bill by @HawleyMO and @SenWarren.

Only when their lips are moving....
We're glad to see @pcmanet thinks more independent pharmacies are good for patients. The problem is that there aren't more. There are fewer, thanks to the predatory behavior of its members. That's why Congress passed the first federal PBM reform in history last week, and that's why we're pushing for more.

Appreciate FTC led by @AFergusonFTC for taking action to help rein in ESI business practices harming consumers & competition. Excellent first steps to balance this one sided marketplace!
Community pharmacies are good for consumers and good for small towns. The Trump-Vance FTC has their back.

HUGE pinocchios by the top insurer CEOs testifying at @HouseCommerce & @WaysandMeansGOP hearings that their companies do everything to control costs. As Chairman @RepJasonSmith said it's profits over patients. The game is fixed in favor of profits.

Powerful words from @RepJamesComer who is coleading the Pharmacists Fight Back Act. Thank you Chairman Comer for fighting to end unfair PBM practices. Independent pharmacies and their patients are ready to fight with you! #HR 6609 & 6610.
🚨Congress is putting Pharmacy Benefit Managers on notice: their era of taking advantage of Americans is ending. Predatory tactics by PBMs have caused drug prices to soar & our pharmacies to suffer. I introduced bipartisan legislation today to rein in PBMs & protect patients.

Thank you, @RepJamesComer It was an honor to stand in front of you BIPARTISAN lawmakers, patients and indie pharmacists who have been harmed by PBMs and tell the story of Kara, an expectant mother with MS, whose health was made worse because of PBMs

Talking to independent physicians, it's obvious that the big insurance carriers are doing to them, what their PBMs are doing to independent pharmacies. They deny, underpay, slow pay, clawback, and create administrative mazes, knowing their victims don't have the time or resources to fight. Why ? By putting financial pressures on physicians and pharmacies, it makes them more likely to sell their businesses to them , close their doors, or refer the business to their captive pharmacy or provider. All benefitting the biggest insurance companies We need to ditch the concept of "claims" and make every delivery of medications or care as a billable event that must, by law, be paid on a timely basis , with interest charges for any delays. If the physician or pharmacy doesn't deliver , the carrier has plenty of legal options already. As does the patient. This is not an efficient market. This is the big guy abusing the little guy. It needs to change to better the care we get in this country

We actually have been working in ERs, and they are slammed. Patients face long waiting periods, and when they get into the ER, they may just be on a gurney in the hallway. When they are finally seen and admitted to the hospital, they may spend 1-2 days waiting in the ER for a hospital bed. The ERs are overloaded, patients are frustrated, the physicians and staff are frustrated, and it is a disaster. The reason for this is that the ACA killed off private practice primary care, and now patients have no access. The Medicaid expansion sounds good, but the money from Medicaid goes to the managed care organizations, and the physician reimbursement is so low that you can't accept Medicaid patients and keep your practice open. Therefore, Medicaid expansion doesn't provide any more access for the patients who deserve it. X is the only place to go for the truth about healthcare at the patient and physician level. I appreciate all of your interest in healthcare and please join us on our mission to reform it and put the patient back in charge!

PBMs took advantage of lax rules to raise drug prices and push out community pharmacies for years. Arkansas was the first state in the nation to say enough. Great to join @Commpharmacy and talk about all we’ve accomplished to protect patients and community pharmacies!
Special Thank You to Gov @SarahHuckabee for inspiring the entire country of Community Pharmacists as this years @Commpharmacy Annual Convention keynote speaker! Her resilent leadership in PBM reform and putting Arkansas Patients First is leading the nation and setting the stage for the future of patient care all across America 🇺🇸

We’re not talking about inefficiency. We’re talking about a rigged system…where the contractor sets the price, owns the pharmacy, controls the formulary, & cashes the rebate check. A system where the fox not only guards the henhouse — it invoices the government for the privilege. ~ @BrandiChane puttrx.medium.com/your-move-… #AuditTRICARE
