COACHING NEWS: @GamecockBSB, as expected since day one, will name Coastal Carolina's Kevin Schnall as its head coach. Schnall, despite flirtations with Scott Forbes (that wasn't happening), has been the frontrunner for the #Gamecocks job all along. Good job by SC not to overthink this.

With USC's loss yesterday, this will be the first time in 50y that a CWS will not have a Florida or California team in Omaha.
That has only happened five times in history since the 8-team bracket was adopted in 1950. (1950, 1952, 1956, 1976 & 2026)

Regardless of the last 3 teams to qualify for Omaha, the 24 spots in the 2024, 2025 and 2026 Men's College World Series fields will have consisted of 23 different schools.
Only North Carolina (2024 & 2026) has been there twice in the past three seasons.

The last time the ACC didn’t have a team in Omaha was 2005.
There was no College World Series in 2020, so that’s 18 consecutive MCWS with at least one ACC team in the field.
A UNC loss today or tomorrow would end that streak.
