I sat down with @johnabrink and we had a pretty honest conversation about what’s happening in Northern BC right now. People are frustrated, and I don’t blame them. These are communities that have always worked hard and carried a big part of this province. Forestry, manufacturing, natural resources. That’s real work. That’s real jobs. And right now too many of those opportunities are being slowed down or blocked altogether. I know what it takes to keep things moving, and I also know what happens when things get tied up in process after process. At some point you have to ask who the system is actually working for. The people I talk to in the North aren’t asking for much. They just want the ability to work, to build, and to support their families without unnecessary barriers getting in the way. We have everything we need here in British Columbia to be successful. There’s no reason we should be falling behind.
