"What year were you called? 2025? That is the problem. Your seniors send you to court, making you believe you can do everything. You think you can just appear before any level of court just because you're wearing a wig and gown. Things happen in court that without experience, you can not manage. Thank God that will soon change. I blame the senior who sent you here without putting you through. Are we supposed to be tutoring juniors when we should be hearing appeals?" Court of Appeal, Lagos. 14th April 2026. This was the reaction of the Court to a young lawyer's underpreparedness for an appeal. Dear senior lawyers, please stop sending young lawyers to court to take a bashing in your stead. Take responsibility for your own case!

You'd think Cape Verde just won the World Cup by their celebration. But then, it's a great feat for them, holding Spain to a draw. Sharing points with Spain gives them a higher chance of qualifying from the group stage. #ESPCPV

the salvaged amounts would be released when a court order is provided to that effect. The bank agreed, so the banks relaxed. They did not bother to brief a lawyer. The twist? The bank went to court and obtained an order in respect of the entire sums instead of the salvaged sums.

Trouble for the banks because they now had to pay everything. Now, the affected banks have engaged lawyers to vary or set aside the court order. As the saying goes, you must pay a lawyer. Either to avoid a problem or to solve it. Guess what? The latter is usually more expensive.

ABIA RECORDS NIGERIA’S FIRST PAROLE RELEASE UNDER CORRECTIONAL SERVICE ACT Abia State has recorded Nigeria’s first parole release under the Nigerian Correctional Service Act, 2019, with ten inmates released under the programme. In a statement, the Service Public Relations Officer of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Jane Osuji, says the development marks the first practical implementation of the parole provisions of the Act. Representing the Controller-General of Corrections, Sylvester Nwakuche, at the event in Umuahia, Assistant Controller-General of Corrections, Ngozi Okeke, describes the initiative as a major step in correctional reforms aimed at rehabilitation, reintegration, and custodial decongestion. The statement notes that the parolees were drawn from custodial centres in Aba, Umuahia, and Arochukwu, and received vocational tools and other reintegration support to aid their return to society. The Nigerian Correctional Service says the parole system is expected to reduce reoffending, strengthen rehabilitation, and promote community reintegration of deserving inmates.

Africa loses an estimated $2 billion annually just from the emigration of skilled professionals. Nigeria alone has one of the largest medical diasporas in the world while its hospitals run without basic equipment and its doctor-to-patient ratio remains catastrophic.

Israel flattened Beirut in 1982. No Hamas. No Hezbollah. No October 7 to point to then. Just 17,000 dead Lebanese and Palestinian civilians. Even US president then Ronald Reagan, who armed Israel, called Begin furious after seeing a photo of a 7-month-old baby with its arms blown off and said “It is a holocaust”. They killed so many innocent people that the survivors had no choice but to pick up weapons. Then Israel had the audacity to keep using “Self-Defense” excuse every decade. Israel didn’t stumble into endless war. Israel built it. Brick by brick. Own it.

Every time a bottle, food pack, nylon bag, or any waste is thrown from a vehicle onto the road, it may seem insignificant. However, when thousands of people do the same, our streets become littered, drainage channels become blocked, and the environment suffers. What you throw away today can contribute to: Flooding caused by blocked drains and waterways. Environmental pollution and unpleasant surroundings. Health risks from disease-causing pests and contaminated water. Increased government spending on waste evacuation and road maintenance. A negative image of our beautiful city. A clean Lagos is not the responsibility of government alone - it is a duty we all share. Dispose of your waste properly, keep a waste bag in your vehicle, and use designated waste bins. What you do: Throw waste on the road. What you cause: Pollution, flooding, and environmental degradation. What you should do: Keep your waste until you find a proper bin. Keep Lagos Clean. Protect the Environment. Save Lives. #CleanerLagos
