Been working through the first lessons in The Odin Project, and while it hasn't been related to code at all yet, I've found a lot of motivational messages that are similar to what I've found on X. Growth mindset. Grit. Consistency. Not giving up when things get tough. Been really helpful to read. Excited to actually start coding though.

If building or developing is only 20% coding, is the other 80% actually just convincing yourself that you can code or develop software?

Working with people is a messy business. Even solo you can't avoid it. Then translating technical aspects to actually solving problems makes it even more challenging. Those in tech who can master all of this together are those who succeed the most.

Love that The Odin Project explictly calls out having a growth mindset. Stubborness and obsessiveness are often considered negative traits, but put those together and you get someone who refused to stop trying to figure something out!

If I make my first to do app really cool, like really, really cool, I can monetize it, right?

Is basically everyone saying coding is no longer the barrier to software development full of it?

Are most people getting into web app dev even trying to get employed anymore? Seems like everyone wants to make their own SaaS

Why is reading about web development on Wikipedia like stepping into the mid 2000s? Some sections needs serious overhauling.

Reading about the history of the internet is wild. Its basically inconceivable to someone my age not having it, but the world wide web didn't even exist until 1989 and the first website until 1991. Crazy the advancement of technology, espcially now with AI.

Think I'm going to complete the Odin Project to give me a base in web dev before then beginning to build anything. Not sure I could direct Claude Code well enough without knowing the natural language around terminology.

For those building in public, should I start building an app with Claude Code while learning web app development? Or should I focus on learning some basics and then go off to the races?

Anyone else struggle with picking an idea and sticking to it? As soon as I feel confident in pursuing something I'm riddled with doubt to the point of giving up. How do you decide and just go all in?

What's the most complicated work you've done with data? For me, it's data around sales and operations planning (S&OP). High stakes planning a budget for 8-9 figure businesses, so the datas gotta be on point. But then the people around the process can make things very complicated.

There seems to be a lot of ecommerce brands on X and marketing folks to go with them helping drive demand. But who's helping ensure that these brands can sustain their ever growing demand on the supply side and operationally?

This platform gives me so much FOMO about missing out on the SaaS gold rush but it's also so inspiring and uplifting the content people post and share. I never thought social media could be so nontoxic and positive. What's the biggest surprise you've had about using X?

Been building a laboratory operations Tableau dashboard the past few days powered by a real Amazon Redshift instance. Its been fun working through the challenges generating mock data, optimizing the ingestion pipeline into the data warehouse, tweaking parameters in the cloud architecture, and then building the data tool itself. What kind of data do you work with in what you've been building?
