I’ll post at least one simple thing a day here that makes it easy for me (and others) to live car-free in Barcelona, Catalonia and Spain. First, for no particular reason, special zones for strollers & wheelchairs on city buses (with tethers and polite people who move if needed).

Guess I’ll revive this monster thread with these monster sized children at a crosswalk in French Catalonia. Seems better than kids carrying an orange flag across the street like some U.S. local governments expect. And it puts more onus on the pilot of the speeding blunt object.

A helpful thread to understand the superblock model here in Barcelona. It's iterative. The goal is a permanent street grid and public squares that prioritize walkers & other non-motorists. The next "green axis" opens later this month, restricting cars in part of the city center.

Colorado has a new national monument: Camp Hale - Continental Divide National Monument. Two WW 2 vets who trained at Camp Hale were on hand for the signing. #copolitics

And large, frequent crosswalks (separated by paint for bikes/scooters/skaters) and pedestrian refuges!

Never seen this before in a cab. Little mirrors so people people on bikes and scooters don’t get door’d and so passengers don’t get hit. 💡

Heading to Dublin this week. You got any recommendations for a guy like me in a city like that? Pubs, streets, treks outside the city? And are there any good refreshments available there??

One of the vehicles in this photo is speed-limited, has a curfew, and is restricted from certain zones for the sake of pedestrian safety.

Here's something. "Where community activists, use-of-force victims and city officials have failed to persuade police departments to change dangerous & sometimes deadly policing practices, insurers are successfully dictating changes to tactics & policies" washingtonpost.com/investiga…

Just finished Upgrade, @blakecrouch1’s newest sci-fi thriller. Love his books, including this one, because they are believable stories of how (incurable falible) humans might interact with scary future technology.

But I did laugh in the first few pages when the protagonist casually hops on the hyperloop from DC to Denver. He does have a big imagination!

I’m biased because this is my partner but it’s rad to see this project documented in a journal. Nature is therapeutic but it’s not necessarily obvious or accessible.
