The video has long since been deleted, but in an interview with Jonathan Welton (yes, that Jonathan Welton), Brian Simmons openly stated that he didn't know Greek or Hebrew but that the Lord "really helped" him. Brian wanted the world to believe that he supernaturally translated original languages into a "brand new translation." But the language is frequently lifted from paraphrases written up to 50 years before TPT.

By the way, this is the same interview where Brian verbally confirms using three of the "Aramaic" sources from which he frequently copy-pastes in The Passion Translation.

This was an endorsement in the first edition of the Passion Translation of the Gospel of John. Brian and his publisher included effusive praise for the footnotes. They contain "deep understanding and stunning insight," they reveal "secrets that have buried for centuries," they demonstrate the "brilliance of this translation." The reality? The majority of the footnotes are copied from existing sources without attribution. So much so that Brian plagiarizes spelling errors, false etymologies, and blatant factual errors that can be traced back to a select number of sources. And he did all of this with a copyright section on the front cover that forbids quotation of TPT without proper attribution and permission from the publisher.

Don’t tell me Paraguay isn’t that good, as if I haven’t watched this team struggle to hold possession or play creatively against CONCACAF cellar dwellers for most of my life.

This is what we are up against after posting 4.5 hours of research backed by extensive receipts and vetted by world class scholars. "When I want God's pure love, I go to [The Passion Translation] and will continue to do so." This is cult-like behavior, plain and simple.

Today's Daily Smoking Gun of plagiarism in the Passion Translation comes in Philippians 3:19. Instead of the words "their god is their belly" which appear in all other translations, TPT (2013) gives "their god has possessed them and made them mute."

Brian copies an utter fabrication from a man who believes his father founded the CIA. He is so ignorant of the original languages that he draws a CONTRAST between the "Aramaic" and the "Greek" because he has no clue that they say the exact same thing.

And he has the audacity to say that the phrase God gave us ("their god is their belly") is "meaningless" to speakers of modern English. This fabricated/plagiarized translation is still live on @YouVersion as we speak.

The number one website that Brian Simmons plagiarized from in the Passion Translation was made by a filmmaker whose films are so dark, disturbing, and inappropriate that—as a pastor—I cannot post them publicly. Think about that for a second. Brian Simmons plagiarized "Aramaic" that doesn't exist from a man whose art verges on the occult. One of the main clips on YouTube features demons dancing to dark and disturbing electronic music. Don't believe me? You can look up "Vic Alexander Red Queen" on YouTube for yourself. Don't say I didn't give you a content warning.

This exposure of The Passion Translation provides another wonderful opportunity to remind people of the three steps of Hyper-Charismatic Cover-Up Culture: Step #1: Deny the scandal exists. Step #2: If step 1 fails, tell people. "the ACTUAL scandal is you talking publicly about the scandal." Step #3: If steps 1-2 have failed, tell people "The ACTUAL scandal is the WAY you're talking about the scandal." Anything to avoid what the objective facts say: that the scandal itself is the actual scandal, not the fact that it's being exposed.

How do we know for SURE that Brian Simmons has been plagiarizing in the Passion Translation? One example of hundreds: in Hebrews 9:10, Brian plagiarizes a footnote from Francois du Toit's "Mirror Bible", including a SPELLING ERROR in the transliteration of a Greek word. ⬇️⬇️⬇️

It's already obvious that this is plagiarized because all fundamental ideas are shared in common. But the smoking gun is "diothosis." There is no such Greek word. Francois accidentally left out an "r" and then Brian copy-pasted his misspelling into the Passion Translation. Not only that, only the Mirror Bible gets the word "restored" from that Greek word. This footnote is still on @YouVersion

Slight correction, there are a few resources that likewise render "diorthosis" as "restoration." However, it is a minority translation here (only HCSB among mainstream translations) and further confirms the obvious smoking gun.
