Today in London, Head of @KRG_DFR Minister @SafeenDizayee & I met with Dr Rob Dixon, the new Director for the Middle East and North Africa at @FCDOGovUK, & David Hunt to discuss #KRG-#UK relations. Key topics included regional security, the formation of the new Iraqi cabinet, and securing the constitutional financial rights of the #KurdistanRegion. Both sides expressed serious concern over ongoing drone attacks against the Kurdistan Region, reaffirming support to ensure stability for the Region, Iraq, and the wider Middle East.

I had a productive exchange with @DavidHuntFCDO, the Head of the Iraq and Yemen Department, and the Iraq team at @FCDOGovUK regarding bilateral relationships and further cooperation, current political developments, and a wide range of issues, including the resumption of oil exports and ways to further promote economic ties. We both agreed to further strengthen the longstanding ties between the UK and #KRI.

12.12.2024 Following the Presentation of the Letters of Credence, High Commissioner @IruthishamAdam hosted a reception to celebrate the historic occasion. The event began with an address by the High Commissioner, highlighting the upcoming 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Maldives and the United Kingdom, the importance of the Commonwealth for climate action and development of SIDS, and finally offering her thanks to His Majesty the King, the Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps, the Diplomatic Community, the Commonwealth, and other partners for their continued support. The event was attended by High Commissioners from SAARC countries, the rest of the Commonwealth, the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, Officials from the @FCDOGovUK India and Indian Ocean Directorate, the Secretary General of the Commonwealth @PScotlandCSG, as well as representatives of International Organizations and the media.

H.E. Carla María Rodríguez Mancia presented her Working Copies as the new Ambassador of Guatemala to the UK. Welcomed at the @FCDOGovUK by @DavidHuntFCDO, Assistant Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps, she officially begins her diplomatic functions. 🇬🇹🤝🇬🇧 #RelacionesConElMundo

Engaging discussion yesterday evening with @masrourbarzani , Kurdistan Regional Government PM. The UK and Kurdistan Region of Iraq have an important and historical relationship. Stability and security in the region are as vital as ever.

Pleased to be at the groundbreaking ceremony for the British International University in Erbil. In a year’s time, students will be able to enroll in @LondonU degree programs in Kurdistan - the first project of its kind in the Middle East. We’ll keep investing in our people.
