🚨USC freshman Tucker Collins, 18, is preparing a federal civil rights lawsuit against the Department of Homeland Security after losing his right eye during a “No Kings” rally near the Metropolitan Detention Center in downtown Los Angeles on March 28, 2026.
Collins says he was peacefully documenting the protest from behind a fence when he was struck by a projectile fired by a DHS officer. He reports hearing no warnings before the impact, which destroyed his eyeball and fractured bones in his eye socket. He now wears an eyepatch and faces permanent vision loss.
His legal team announced plans for the lawsuit at a press conference on April 15, 2026, and has also filed a claim for damages. They are calling for a criminal investigation.
DHS maintains that officers issued multiple warnings amid rioters throwing rocks, bottles, and cement blocks, and used minimum force necessary to protect themselves, the public, and federal property.
