I’m listening to Luther Vandross’ discography this week and I’m amazed at the ease of his vocal delivery. It’s so similar to Ella Fitzgerald’s in that it sounds like he is smiling regardless of any note he is singing. He also had such a beautifully connected head voice.

He made such perfect cleaning music—as in music to listen to while cleaning the house—because it sounds like he is almost casually humming even though you KNOW he is projecting and being very technical. But it sounds so easy for him! There was so much fluidity in his gift 🫶🏾
