Wait — why can a child read ‘elephant’ but guess ‘those’? 🐘 David Morgan breaks down how this happens — and how picture clues in books can make guessing worse. #LearnToRead #ReadingScience #PhonicsExplained #LiteracyForAll #WLS2025

I had the pleasure of presenting at the World Literacy Summit last week. We know the future needs to be different. That can be scary, but the future I am suggesting has been heavily tested through 17 years of R&D. youtu.be/MEWkZHhvikc #WLS2025 @WorldLiteracy

"We have been home educating our son & reading has been a struggle! He has done two months of the Easyread System and the change is amazing! If you are willing to dedicate the time into it (15 minutes per day), you will see amazing things happen." #homeschool #learntoread

K completed an amazing 270 Easyread lessons. When he started Easyread, he was guessing short, common words and his accuracy rate was around 10-20%. Now his accuracy rate is right up at 90% and his fluency is continuing to build every day. #FASD #dyslexia #APD #raisingreaders

If a child has done an eye test, but still finds small text hard to read, then weak eye tracking and convergence is probably to blame. If your learner has weak eye tracking, start our ten day eye tracking exercise routine. #eyetracking #dyslexia #phonics #raiseareader

Processing auditory information is often hard! It’s one of the reasons why we provide visual prompts to the sounds in Easyread. #apd #learntoread #visualphonics

The approach that has been getting the most success for struggling readers is a method called “visual #phonics”. It uses a presentation of text called “trainertext”, where there are little icons for each sound in a word above the word. Full article here: bit.ly/3CUAO6s

Recent years have been anything but normal, so a lot of children have ended up with holes in their #phonics understanding. What most children will do then is to switch to a memorisation technique, where they try to recognise what the whole word looks like. This is a problem.
