The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints affirms that Jesus Christ came forth out of the grave and lives today as a resurrected being.
Clear evidence of Jesus Christâs literal ResurrectionâHis physical appearance to His disciples and others after His crucifixionâcan be found throughout the New Testament:
â˘At the site of the empty tomb, Jesus appeared to Mary Magdalene, who was the first person to witness the resurrected Lord (see John 20:11â18).
â˘Cleopas and another disciple walked with the resurrected Christ on the road to Emmaus and later dined with Him (see Luke 24:13â35).
â˘Christ appeared to 10 of the Apostles and said, âBehold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me haveâ (Luke 24:39). The Apostles gave Jesus âa piece of a broiled fish, and some honeycomb. And he took it, and did eat before themâ (Luke 24:42â43).
â˘The Apostle Thomas felt the wounds in Jesusâ hands, feet, and side: âThen saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believingâ (John 20:27).
â˘More than 500 people simultaneously saw the risen Lord in Galilee (see 1 Corinthians 15:6).
â˘Paul stated he personally saw the resurrected Lord (see 1 Corinthians 15:8) and taught about the living Christ: âBut now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that sleptâ (1 Corinthians 15:20).
The Apostle Paul taught, âFor as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made aliveâ (1 Corinthians 15:22). Because of Christâs Atonement and Resurrection, all who have ever lived on this earth will also be resurrected to live forever as resurrected beings.
The universal resurrection is certain, and it is literal. The Resurrection of Jesus Christ is truly the most glorious event in history.
