I have a new essay to share—largely inspired by the shifts in our view of the ‘world’, that tends to arise as our meditation deepens. davidperrott.substack.com/p/…

Integration is largely about having the courage to reorganise one’s external environment to align with their freshly revealed internal beliefs and preferences.
Replying to @RichDecibels
according to me: you will fail to integrate so long as you look inwards integration requires you to change your context, renegotiate your existing relationships, remove some, and bring in new ones (eg you may need to move to a different job)

not needing something allows you to enjoy it more fully. If you need something to be okay you’ll likely be contracted and in your head even as you get it, and hoping to keep it. If you’re totally okay without it you’ll be present as all its flavors arise and develop

**I believe community unlocks the potential of the world.** Community is the safety net that is there to catch you when you fall after you take that leap into the unknown, and so I want more people to feel community because I want more people to take those leaps.

In some sense I don’t think spiritual-style acceptance and change the world style agency conflict at all. The former refers to stopping subsecond micro-physiological* moments of resistance that causes essentially all suffering, the latter longer timescales of building new things etc but also most people when they taste happiness independent of conditions lose their drive for a while. They also realized they never really needed the things they were building, which were symptomatic treatments to feeling bad or disconnect or worthless etc rather than cures. They were only changing the world because they personally wanted to feel good, even though they couldn’t admit that to themselves until they finally had it. So you need to reboot the system based on something else, like helping others or simply curiosity, which is possible but from what I’ve seen usually takes some time * I think it’s a bit of an open question to what extent it’s actually physiological vs “mental”, but even if it’s mental it feels so close to being muscular it might be easier to think of it that way

The passing of a true intellectual giant, rebel, trailblazer and truth seeker. A wise, humble and curious man. Kind and generous with his incredible mind ❤️ What an enormous inspiration Danny was to so many, including me. Here are ten of my favourite things he said:
