Meeting with the dedicated healthcare professionals at @NorHillsHosp, together with Minister @SylviaJonesMPP, was a reminder that great care starts with great people. Their compassion, innovation, and commitment to patients touch the lives of Northumberland families every day.

Yesterday, Ontario Provincial Police Constable Tarun Bali was killed while serving and protecting the community of Hearst in Northern Ontario. This is a moment to reflect on the men and women who put themselves in harm’s way to protect our families, friends, and communities. My heart and deepest condolences go out to his family, loved ones, and fellow officers who knew him and witnessed his unwavering commitment to serving others.

When government, labour, and industry work together, workers benefit. @285Local continues to lead the way in training, safety, and workforce development, helping more Ontarians build rewarding careers close to home. Alongside MPP @zeeinmilton, we joined the @cwbgroupwelding to celebrate the opening of their new training centre in Milton, supported by a $1.46 million Skills Development Fund investment. Ontario’s next generation deserves every opportunity to succeed. At the @OntarioCofC, Minister @nolanmquinn and I discussed how our government is expanding training opportunities, investing in apprenticeships, and breaking down barriers so more people can step into rewarding careers in the industries building Ontario’s future.

The gear that protects our firefighters helps protect all of us. Joined by Brighton Fire Chief Gene Thompson and Timmins Deputy Fire Chief Scott Foster, we visited Starfield @LION_Gear to see firsthand how this @ontario_made equipment is manufactured and why it plays such an important role in keeping firefighters safe on the job. From expanded presumptive cancer coverage to the Ontario Fire Protection Grant, our government is proud to support the firefighters who work every day to keep Ontario families and communities safe, and the skilled Ontario workers who make the equipment they rely on.

When workers have opportunities, communities succeed. In Sudbury today, I announced funding for more training programs that will help over 7,300 workers gain the skills, certifications, and hands on experience needed to succeed in rewarding careers. Watching these competitors put their skills to the test at the National Skills Competition was a reminder that Ontario’s next generation has the talent, determination, and drive to build rewarding careers and a brighter future. @skillsontario @Skills_Canada

Ontario is stronger because of the generations of Italian Canadians who helped build it. Celebrating Italian Heritage Day and the Day of the Italian Republic with the members of @local46 was a powerful reminder of the lasting impact Italian Canadians have had on our communities, our workforce, and our province.  Their stories, values, and contributions continue to unite us and inspire future generations to carry that legacy forward.

Great meeting with Compass ELC representatives and local parents to hear firsthand about the opportunities and challenges facing childcare in our community. We discussed how Ontario can continue to improve access to affordable childcare while also supporting the dedicated early childhood educators who play an important role in shaping the lives of future generations.

Ontario’s Beef Farmers came to the Legislature to serve up some of the best Ontario beef and talk about Ontario’s beef sector. Such a pleasure to join the @BeefFarmersON for their annual BBQ. Special thank you to our very own Chadd Taylor for his work in bringing the issues to Queens Park and Ontario’s Agriculture Minister @TrevorJonesCKL for showcasing the very best! It was a real treat to enjoy a nice lunch with the incredible team I get to work with at Labour and even more special to show them how communities like ours, feed the city!

The freedoms we enjoy every day are made possible by the men and women who choose to serve. It was a privilege to meet with members of the @CanadianForces and thank them for their service. From reservists who strengthen our communities at home to serving abroad, their dedication deserves our gratitude and support, along with the employers who stand behind them when duty calls.

The talent on display at the National Skills Competition made one thing clear: Ontario’s next generation of workers is ready to take a hands-on role in building the future of our province. Proud to highlight six apprenticeship training projects across the GTA that will help ensure young people, apprentices and jobseekers have access to training to start meaningful careers, faster! Northern Ontario’s forestry sector helps keep communities strong and supports the homes families rely on across our province. In Kenora, Minister @GregRickford, @SkilledTradesON CEO Candice White, and I joined the @Weyerhaeuser team at their TimberStrand Mill for a roundtable conversation on the importance of strong health and safety standards and skilled trades training. Discussions like this reinforce our shared commitment to protecting workers and ensuring Ontario’s workforce stays strong, skilled, and safe.
