Karmelo Anthony, 19, was found guilty of murder today in Collin County, Texas. The jury deliberated just three hours before convicting him for fatally stabbing 17-year-old Austin Metcalf once in the chest at a Frisco high school track meet on April 2, 2025.
Anthony had sat in the rival school’s tent during a rain delay, refused to leave after being asked multiple times, warned Metcalf not to touch him, then pulled a knife and stabbed him after a shoulder push. He claimed self-defense but the jury rejected it.
Sentencing starts immediately with the same jury. He faces five to 99 years or life in prison — no death penalty or life without parole because he was 17 at the time. The courtroom and outside saw tense scenes after the verdict.
