I just had a decision back from Access to Work @DWPgovuk telling me that my support hours are going to be reduced from 37 to 8.
I am absolutely devastated as a disabled journalist having a support worker is vital and this is going to impact my job.
Does anyone have any advice?
Just wondering if any of my disabled friends who are in receipt of Access to Work have had to wait ages to get a response about an ongoing claim?
Four weeks later, and I’m still waiting for them to get back to me.
@GWRHelp train journey this morning was so inaccessible first train platform was changed last minute when we were at the platform.
The train was shortened so no seat bookings were honoured with people in my seat.
Had to sit a carriage away from my carer because no seats.

As a disabled person I wanted to talk about my personal experiences with with mental health and my disability.
For context, I am severely sight impaired and have a chronic illness.
#MentalHealthAwarenessWeek
in the past, I have dealt with depression on and off.
In recent years this was as a result of not being able to find full-time work after graduating from university.
being a disabled person and trying to find work was incredibly difficult before finding my current job.
My disability for me often feels like being another job on top of the one I already have.
Like any job you can run the risk of getting burnt out.
Only disability isn’t a job you can clock off from at the end of the day.
I’m looking for parents/carers of disabled children within Southeast London who would be happy to talk to me about their experiences trying to find accessible playgrounds in the local area for a story for News Shopper.
DM me if interested,
Almost three weeks later and I have still not has the phone or refund from @O2
I paid a £200 deposit.
O2 said it was a glitch and that my order is stuck.
I asked for it to be cancelled.
Was told I’d hear within 10 working days…nothing.
As a disabled person, things like DLA (now PIP) us to live more independent life as with the extra costs we have on top of everything else being disabled.
Extra things like assistive equipment, taxi fares, mobility aids and so on.
Some of the extra costs I have on a monthly basis:
Taxi Fares
Food delivery charges for groceries
Replacements for mobility aids like my long cane
Audiobooks as opposed to just print books (more expensive)
Subscriptions for assistive technology to do my job
I do have other costs relating to looking after my guide dog as well as having to pay for extra travel for someone to accompany me to hospital appointments when I have to go in for tests.
All additional costs that I have on a regular basis.
