An actual disgrace. £423 for the use of a website and *MANDATORY* portfolio. These college fees are scandalous. Trainees are struggling financially due to years of pay erosion and this is simply tone deaf from a college allegedly trying to retain a workforce. #shame @rcgp

GPs earning over £156,000 will have to declare their earnings next year, no doubt in an attempt to shame them. Can you imagine if the partners of a law firm were forced to publically declare their take home? There is such a weird stigma around making money in healthcare

My consultant is off this week. A discharge planning meeting was arranged for me take lead on. I gave Wed AM and Fri PM availability to secretary. Meeting booked for Wed PM. Why am I not surprised? I’ve pulled the plug as I refuse to cancel my other commitments.

I had an interaction with an 18 year old inpatient today and after our chat I cried and cried. 18 years old. Believing they have nothing to live for. Not ever having known happiness with no hope of things ever changing. I really need the system to work for them right now. 💔

Men who grandstand in meetings need to stop being invited to meetings. There is no need, none, not one, to speak for longer than 4 minutes about any topic, unless otherwise prompted. We aren’t here for a lecture. Drop the highlights and move on. Thanks

My training body/ employer have a website that works like it was made by a novice. They sent Travel Claim forms when Study claim forms were requested. Website has no study claim forms. No one answers the phone. Time wasted trying to get simple admin tasks complete. #nonsense

Striking statistics presented today of suicide rates in doctors undergoing GMC Fitness to Practise proceedings. 17x higher than that of average doctor and 14x than that of general population.

Have been quiet for a while. Off on leave then was sick for a few days. Back to the grind today and it was… alright. Battered and bruised from the intensity of other jobs so psychiatry seems like a dream. #teamgp

A slippery slope. Would like to know if anyone has faced disciplinary action from their regulator for criticising politicians.

Just to alert my followers, some MPs have started reporting HCPs to their regulators for social media comments about politicians. Stay safe online - @thecsp avoids attacking individual politicians - criticise the policy not the person.

Riddled with guilt as I enter my third day of sick leave. Spent this morning telling myself I would be grand going in while I coughed up sputum and my voice went hazy. I’m sure my colleagues do not mind covering for me as I would for them, but the guilty feeling never passes.

Within minutes of tweeting this I opened a tiktok while my screen was not on mute and interrupted the teaching. 🙃 time for some #reflectivepractice
Yesterday I arrived to clinic. There was no room booked for me to see patients. I was told I would not be getting a list of patients to see of my own. I was put to a computer room with old notes to complete a meds review. As a gp trainee, OPC is where I’ll learn to to manage..

… outpatients with mental health conditions. It should be the educational opportunity to bring theory and practice together. I’m a month in now and still nothing has been properly organised for me. I’ll give it til the next clinic and if it’s a shambles will speak to GP lead.
