Pope Leo meets with Italian actor Roberto Benigni.
On the 4th December, the Pope met with Benigni ahead of the release of his monologue “Peter: A man in the wind”, which will be broadcast on Italian state TV on 10th December.
The Pope watched some excerpts from the monologue, which he called “beautiful”, noting that “it speaks of life”.
The Pope and Benigni talked about cinema and ‘Life is Beautiful,’ which the Pope had recently listed among his four favourite films, as well as Frank Capra's ‘It's a Wonderful Life.’
The pair also talked about the lives of St. Peter, Dante and St. Augustine, as well as their famous works, Dante’s Divine Comedy and Augustine’s Confessions.
