🧵 Good morning Twitter world! Let’s talk about school safety, specifically morning drop off @RoundRockISD I’m hoping for some help in getting the word out. This week @BerkmanAIA we almost had two administrators hit by vehicles for failing to comply with directions of a school…

Emotionally intelligent leadership will result in better outcomes by developing commitment instead of compliance. When people are committed, they go above and beyond because they find joy in what they do. In compliance-driven cultures, people do what is needed to get by.

The real learning loss from the pandemic has been social and emotional skills. Such as making and maintaining friendships, participating in group projects, and regulation of emotions. Students need unstructured play, recess, and group interaction more than ever.

People ask what will praying do? Why does God allow this? Evil exists and we need to turn to a greater power to overcome it.

Overwhelmed with sadness for Uvalde - for the moms and dads, brothers and sisters, grandmas and grandpas, aunts and uncles, cousins, playmates, friends, classmates, and teachers - this tragedy is unfathomable.🖤

Eva Mireles and Irma Garcia were two of the greatest teachers Uvalde, TX has ever known. Their classroom was full of fun, growth, giggles, teamwork, and, most of all, love. Their legacy will live in the hearts of our community forever. #uvaldestrong

I feel like I’m constantly walking up a steep hill as I work tirelessly to help our students’ mental health, because we as a society refuse to make any substantial changes to impact the culture that has created such fear and trauma.

A4: It starts with our own perceptions! Do we see each member of our team as adding value? If we do, we treat them as such and honor their voice and choice. If we don't, we can be dismissive and build barriers in our relationships. #LeadLAP

Compensation doesn’t need to be monetary, it could be: -Extra Personal Days -Meaningful, self-driven PD -Less meetings -Authentic PLCs -Opportunities to collaborate -More coaching & support other than annual evals -More available substitute teachers when gone

Remember... The mountain, no matter how big it is, is no match for your faith and desire to climb it. Mountains are meant to be climbed. Wounds are meant to be healed and problems are meant to become learning experiences. They all serve a purpose. They make us stronger.

Sometimes kids push their boundaries. That’s what they do. Most adults were kids once. It’s good to remember. We hold kids accountable… but we still can show grace; we can still demonstrate compassion; and we always respect their dignity.

I had a wonderful opportunity. Most of you don’t know that I had the “privilege” of repeating the 2nd grade. Yes, it really was the best 2 years of my young life. Howard Gardner said it well, “it’s not how smart you are…it’s how you’re smart”. Smart different is still smart.

The Scripture says, “Stand still and you will see the deliverance of the Lord.” Keep doing the right thing, honoring God, and He’ll take care of what’s stopping you. He’ll move people out of the way, He’ll silence the opposition, He’ll say, “Peace be still.”
