PSA: it’s ok to get a PhD just because you want to, and not because you had a specific goal in mind. It’s a life experience that teaches you more than just how to do research/be a career academic. A PhD is a chapter of your life, and doesn’t dictate your future. 🤘

I absolutely love the process of writing a scientific article. Drafting, getting feedback, editing, reorganizing, polishing... my favourite moments of being a researcher. Every article feels like a complete challenge and an absolute reward. Who is with me? @AcademicChatter

I was paid $19k at UIC in 2012. I took out high interest loans to supplement my income so I could TA 20 hours a week on top of research and maintaining full time enrollment. There was a strike. UIC continues to pay poverty wages 10 years later. SMDH wsws.org/en/articles/2022/04…

Why do we meet ‘in person’/‘on zoom’ and not ‘in vivo’/‘in silico’?

women don't need your "advice" about "vocal fry" or "upspeak". it's a generational change in vocal patterns that has impacted both men and women but somehow it has been weaponized against mostly women to criticize their voice instead of listening to them. mashable.com/article/vocal-f…

Paired programming is a huge part of my day to day as an engineer! Ducks are cute but they don’t beat my team mates🦆 medium.com/@tsecretdeveloper…
It’s official: a male coworker called me “scary”. Wonder what adjective he would have chosen if I were also a male? 🧐😆 index.medium.com/do-you-inti…
