Iain Dale left stunned by calm caller on LBC A composed caller named Mike told Iain Dale on LBC that Britain “will remain almost ungovernable until we have mass deportations”. The exchange was striking because the caller spoke in measured tones, clearly articulating a view held by millions of people across the country. Yet Iain struggled to process it, repeatedly falling back on “you can’t do that”. Mike highlighted the obvious disconnect: the British public have consistently voted for lower immigration, only for politicians to deliver record levels instead. “There’s a massive disconnect between the political class and the people of this country,” he said. “We never gave any consent to this and there’s certainly no mandate for the scale of immigration we’ve seen.” When Iain pushed back, saying you can’t deport people here perfectly legally, the caller was unflinching: Caller: “You mean end indefinite leave to remain?” Iain: “You can do that for future people but you can’t do that for people who have already got it. That would be outrageous.” Caller: “Yeah you can. Of course you can.” Iain: “From a fairness point of view, you can’t suddenly tell people who’ve got a perfect legal right to be here that we’re changing the rules now…” Caller: “You can, Iain.” Iain: “Well you can do that but is that really the kind of country you want to live in?” Caller: “Yes!” Iain continued to argue that you can’t “take it out on perfectly legal, law-abiding people”, clearly unable to grasp how widespread this frustration has become. The public didn’t always feel this way. Years of politicians ignoring the public on immigration have shifted attitudes dramatically. As the caller made clear, people never voted for this transformation and the consequences of fixing it now rest with those who created the problem. Well worth a listen. The gap between Westminster and the rest of the country has rarely been clearer.

I asked Claude for the most “politically controversial” Occult Detective fiction title. “The most politically toxic single book is probably The Satanist (1960) — the convergence of Cold War paranoia, racism, and the equation of socialism with literal devil worship is most explicit there. The Devil Rides Out is better written and more enjoyable to read despite the problems; The Satanist is where the ideology has fully metastasised into the fiction.” SOLD

I’m sorry but I’m not going to take the spike in bonds yields today seriously. Trump is China. Sterling got rocked yesterday…

Is there anything out there that tries to do something similar to Tom Clancy’s Executive Orders that is more streamlined? This audiobook is my first foray with him and I’m struggling. But he has awakened the desire for a domestic/international political thriller that is heavier on politics as opposed to intelligence operations intrigue. Claude is telling me Ward Just, who looks kinda OK, but his other reccomendations of Stephen L. Carter Richard North Patterson look not good. Basically I’m looking for a hidden gem like Paul Erdman, except for politics as opposed to finance.

Yes the parts with Jack Ryan at work are flipping amazing, but through Chapter 17 of 63 that’s only 1/8 of the book. Hopefully, Tom is just setting the table. @johnkonrad is the anybody else out there to challenge Tom in and about the modern era?

This old @curtis_yarvin pick is so great because it’s by a guy who’s something of a hater and the colonists still sound so badass. Samuel Adams is a sociopathic loser that just won’t be deterred. Paul Revere is the messenger because he really loves riding. Franklin is turning down huge bribes in England. People from across the colonies are spontaneously sending Bostonians money and goods during the ~one year British blockade of the port after the Tea Party so they don’t pay the very payable reimbursement. And they basically had their own 3-year Biden administration where Madison thought it was a lost cause. I’m only halfway through… happy to direct you to the audiobook.

He’s making good points, but using words you don’t know the definition of is one of the biggest midwit checks. Maybe he actually knew steers don’t have balls by definition but he was ”do it live” and the wrong word just slipped but… Maybe Baris is OK, never seen him before, but in this time of commie sleeper agents posing as RW we have to run the checks: Physiognomy of course but also guys who do expertise creep. I was listening to a forbidden RW podcast and the guys started in on WWII timelines and it was obvious the three of them were out of their depth, but did they say “I don’t know” or “I’ll look it up” no they pushed on not realising that being opaque about edges of their knowledge hurts their credibility far more than just approximating in the first place. Similar guys fumble FX rates/direction and bond yields/price and it’s like, mate I’m listening to you for your views on A where I’m ignorant, and when you creep over and get B wrong it makes me question what you claim to have a handle on. Just PrideMax for a spotless track record and caveat accordingly if you are unsure.
BARIS: Paxton is one of the main reasons those immigration policies held up in Trump’s 1st term. He sued everywhere and never stopped fighting the left. He’s got balls the size of a Texas steer. Because of it, they tried to remove him from office and throw him in jail. Nobody deserved this more than @KenPaxtonTX.

I once asked a friend who had been in the army why I didn’t see this in the airport when soldiers were travelling. He defended the combat boots and fatigues as necessary travel attire and I said I think we need to go back to From Here to Eternity khakis and tucked ties. Better money spent than that whole Army of One campaign.
I don't usually post pics of myself or my boys - but what the heck. Say hello to 2nd Lieutenant Patrick T. Grazer - the baby of the family has graduated.

The good news is that I have ex-colleague buddy to ticker chat about Nokia with. The bad news is that he has 5x my position and drops gems like this.
