I found my voice in one of my first big client meetings as a new Partner. The client was a brash CTO who dropped the f-bomb often and hated consultants. He took one look at me and said, “If I had a daughter, she would be older than you so what could you possibly have to tell me?”

I had his attention. We talked for almost two hours and he became one of my biggest buyers. I learned that my leadership style is truth telling, and it served me well. Because I was young and looked young, I could not lead with my experience or expertise.

I am humbled that #FirstFewOnly served as the backbone of @Parexel's day focused on how WOC can find their power and how co-conspirators can show up differently.

The airplane is a microcosm of the workplace and the idea that moms, women, and WOC weren't in the seats when most workplaces were designed. That's why it makes many of us feel like we don't belong.
