This just isn't true. Thyme, rosemary, cinnamon, fennel, parsley, sage, mustard, nutmeg, mint, cloves and of course salt & pepper. All very strong tasting herbs and spices used heavily throughout British cuisine for most of British history. And that's ignoring the spice trade
It tastes much fresher without that, british food relies on high quality ingredients rather than saturating items with a myriad of seasonings.
