I was joking with a colleague the other day about my Oric game, saying that it may sell for years and years, because it's looking as retro as it will ever been, it can't ever end up looking more retro😅
Metal Slug turned 30 this year. It has aged incredibly gracefully; and I think the main reason is its pixel graphic style.
Unlike early 90s vector graphics, ray tracing, or hyper-realistic styles, pixel art ages much better.
You could release Metal Slug today as an arcade game and it would still work perfectly. You can't say the same about the majority of games from three decades ago.
