No graphite or silicon anode is manufactured into the cell at all. Lithium metal plates itself onto the current collector during charging, behind a ceramic separator that is nonflammable and resists dendrites, the metal filaments that short and ignite conventional cells. Removing the anode does three things at once: energy density jumps, cost drops because an entire leg of the manufacturing line disappears, and the China-dominated graphite supply chain stops mattering.
