Not just Japan or China folks. S-Bahn goes twice as far, has over twice the farebox recovery, less than half the staff, moving 5x the people that #BART does. Virtually identical potential passengers population. Employees Comparison: Munich S-Bahn: ~1,800 BART: ~3,770 operating staff (total headcount ~4,200–4,600)• Key Breakdown Munich: 750 train drivers service staff BART: 500 train drivers, but heavy on manager, maintenance, police & administrative staff. Munich S-Bahn: ~155,000 passengers per employee BART: ~12,000–15,000 passengers per employee You ALL know what's wrong.

#BART @SFBART has a requirement that safety sensitive persons using BART's equipment have and maintain a valid driver license (operating trains, equipment cars). Never been done? How deep is the rabbit hole here? Are your BART trains and system really safe? After I believe over four decades (or more) BART has now decided to verify driver license validity by hiring yet another contractor. Up till now never checked outside initial hiring (if even then). Perhaps @debora_allen1 has historical BOD insight - if the issue ever came up in public? So all the while there has been no safety check or balance for DUI's, drug arrests, etc., just "dispatch your train" or "drive the BART vehicle to XYZ" or "set on the equipment at a rail point". Oh wait there's. Each person live scanned has any arrest spit out the live scan machine at BART PD, pretty much the next day. They sit around read them, laugh and trash bin them. BART knows of the potential issue and throw it away - for years. BART KNOWS. Train controllers, operators, maintenance / track workers - a whole cornucopia of safety sensitive employees have issues. No, a reported arrest from live scan is not guilt, but it provides an opportunity to extend the SAP / EAP programs to those in dependence extremis who might benefit from utilization. Instead those programs are un/underutilized - while making the whole system seemingly unsafe from operations to rail and structure integrity. Instead of asking employees to bring in DL records annually (or every six months like your insurance does automatically) @SFBART is hiring yet another outside contractor to fulfill functions negligently ignored for decades. More spend. Now because BART's habit and custom to ignore the issue - it will likely override employment rules the whole thing becomes more make work at millions of dollars in contractor and legal costs. Public dollars. So why now? Who's suing BART this time for a matter largely avoidable? Do you feel safe on BART? Is transparency too much to ask for? @SecDuffy - the problems are everywhere.

This is exactly the problem. Government and people for rapists. These are the same people that influence and manage many Public Agencies across our State. How many more victims until they are satisfied?

Not good. If you think you can't afford a new home now, just wait till you pay a $324,000 tax. Waiting for retires to sell and move away? That's a huge chunk of retirement income - maybe all of it or more, for people that won't actually drive much. Very very underhanded. Know before you vote.

Work for BART Police, leave BART for San Leandro Police, develop valuable skills and then get rehired by BART as a Deputy Chief..... The liability creation is unreal.
