Here’s a friendly reminder that, even though the news rn is scary and depressing, the answer should almost never be to “not watch because it makes [me] sad.” If the news upsets you, go out and try to change the world it reports. Ignorance is not bliss. #ignoranceisirresponsible

I always say it, but this is the EXACT moment I begin sobbing like a baby while watching "Fire Walk With Me". I've told Sheryl Lee that her performance here breaks me while also inspiring my own work, as an actor. Absolutely spellbinding performance!
Personally I have never seen anything more viscerally upsetting than this scene in my life

Spielberg casually releasing the closest thing we'll ever get to a Delta Green film the same week Peter Thiel's secret society of elite technocrats gets leaked feels darkly serendipitous

Yes, because “Method” doesn’t mean what is implied here. I respect and understand the goal here, but the widespread misunderstanding of what the Method is has gotten absurd. Most “Method Actors” are not actually adhering to the Method.
Kristen Stewart says acting is by nature “quite embarrassing and unmasculine,” and that going Method is a way for some male actors to temper the “inherently vulnerable” side of being a performer: “Have you ever heard of a female actor that was method?”

Gonna be honest, thinking this way is exactly what is causing us to underestimate younger generations. I’m Gen Z. I read "Beowulf" in 7th grade. It was a struggle, but I understood it through hard work. This sentiment conditions younger folks to not even try.
Reading moby dick and thinking about how this only 170 year old vernacular is now just completely indecipherable for anyone born after 2006.

In order to believe this you have to ignore VAST quantities of historical evidence. It’s no different than claiming Percy Shelley wrote "Frankenstein". Now, it is true that Scott used Zelda’s diary as a source of some parts of "Gatsby", but Zelda did not write the book.
F. Scott Fitzgerald didn't write The Great Gatsby. His wife Zelda Fitzgerald did. He just had the right gender at the time to publish it. Read Zelda's own novel, Save Me the Waltz, and tell me I'm wrong. I have never been more certain of anything in my life.

It struck a nerve with the zeitgeist that Gen Z finds itself experiencing, that’s why. The audience is overwhelmingly younger, because the film directly speaks to Gen Z experiences and fears surrounding vulnerability. It doesn’t surprise me that this film has been such a hit.
It's genuinely baffling why THIS one is such a historical box office winner. No shade to the film - I hear its solid, even from people who usually dislike contemporary horror - but idk why it's lit the world on fire to this degree. Just weird!

At the risk of inviting backlash from adding nuance: This song's writing predates her relationship with Alwyn by two years. It predates their breakup by nine years. I think using this song to bully another, unrelated woman is deeply misogynistic.

Sometimes I worry that it was ill-advised to devote my entire life to writing at the precise moment when everyone decided to abandon literacy.

That’s from the Absolute Universe, my guy
I always laugh when people say Batman’s “no killing rule” makes him weak when he will literally do things like to his villains making them wish they were dead

So many of y’all who talk about Epstein do not know the very basics of the case or his background and it’s why so many people are happy to peddle conspiracy theories instead of actual information.

Classifying "The Office" as edgy is genuinely hilarious. "The Office" is the quintessential, mass market appeal comedy series. It’s perfectly inoffensive with the occasional off color joke.
Rainn Wilson says "The Office" probably wouldn’t be made today, telling Fox News Digital that media trends have shifted left and that cancel culture makes it difficult for edgy comedies to thrive.

Trying to reduce what happens in "Obsession" to the fault of a “bad friend” sidesteps most of the horror. This entire friend group is a victim of a refusal to be vulnerable. The conditions for Bear’s actions are created by the way Gen Z is conditioned to fear vulnerability.
Was Ian a fake friend to bear the whole time? Making him a partial villian in the story too? #obsession

I enjoyed it, so when friends who haven’t seen it invite me to tag along, I join in
a key point everyone is missing when it comes to how much this movie has made is that people are watching it 5 times this is the real discussion we need to be having. what is it about this movie that is bringing people in for that scale of repeat viewings.

What are the chances Sneider read Bryan Tyree Henry is playing “Harvey” and he just assumed it was Harvey Dent? Could’ve been Harvey Bullock

"Harvey Dent is a pretty boy aristocrat" No. No he's not. He's an upper-middle class district attorney. Respectfully, pick up a comic.
