Nice pre & post war aerial photos of RAF Linton-on-Ouse. First one taken 12-Sep 1938 with Whitley II's & III's of 58 Sqn & 51 Sqn resp. The second from 26-Mar 1946 with Halifax in evidence. The five Hangars were C-Type. Photos from Historic England

@neheritagelib more on the Newcastle Gliding Club. From the Sunday Sun 24 May 1931 & advert from The Sailplane – Vol.1 No.3 19 Sept 1930. Cramlington Aircraft Ltd was est. late 20’s by Leslie Runciman and Connie Leathart and specialized in the servicing and repair of aircraft.

HM Submarine Thunderbolt on 1/4/1942 at Blyth was originally named Thetis & sank on tests on 01/06/1939 with the loss of 99 crew & shipyard personnel. She was salvaged & put back into service & was sunk for a second time on 01/03/1943 by enemy action with the loss of all hands.
