Not just Upwork tbh, anywhere
Did an interview one time, I had already rehearsed what to say when I’m being asked how much I was expecting. Devil came in and I mentioned a very stupid figure, client said okay and I’m like Uhn? She was like “I want to believe that, that’s where you think your strength lies, that’s how much your think your capabilities are worth”
I felt so insulted, in my life, I’ve never tried that rubbish again 🤣🤣🤣. Yes they’re looking for cheap labor but they want value like mad 🤣
My honest take on this. 😊
Reducing your prices on Upwork is dicey.

Before a potential client reads a single word on your profile, they have already made a decision.
Here is the order people actually process your profile:
- They feel first
- They read second
- They decide third
If the first feeling is doubt, nothing you write below recovers it fully. If the first feeling is trust, everything they read after confirms it.

Reducing your prices on Upwork is dicey.

Upwork and Fiverr to foreign clients have always been a market for cheap labor.
You can earn a lot there but not excluding the fact that it's for cheap labor...
Do you think a solo founder can afford a US based designer?? 😀
He is reaching out his country because it's cheap.
Hence why Fiverr and upwork is toping that chart.

My two cents on buying reviews on Upwork. 😒
I’m against buying reviews because Upwork is easy to detect those accounts. Imagine a client account that has hired over 500 people with just $2k spent. Even a dumb person will know that it’s shady. All Upwork needs to do is check the the client hiring history, and you’d start seeing $5 everywhere. Some are even dumb to buy$5 reviews for automation and software dev projects.😭
