A pleasure to meet with @LukeJLindberg, the United States candidate for Executive Director for @WFP. Mr. Lindberg is the right choice and his leadership will increase efficiency so the WFP can feed people in the world’s most severe crises. Appreciated the opportunity to host a dialogue with SBO McKemey, Foreign Service alumni, and representatives from universities across the country as we work to expand the State Department’s recruitment pipeline. Grateful for the thoughtful discussion about connecting talented students with opportunities to serve in the Foreign Service and across the Department, and helping more students see a path to careers in diplomacy and public service. This is just the beginning, and we encourage more students to apply and consider a career in diplomacy.

Visited the operations center of the World Food Program with Ambassador Blanchard for a productive discussion with Carl Skau and the team on global food security and ensuring U.S. support delivers maximum impact. The U.S. is the largest donor to the @WFP and we require efficiency and effectiveness. Grateful to the WFP and partners for their lifesaving work.

The Secretary General of #ItalyMFA, Amb. Riccardo Guariglia, met with the 🇺🇸 Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources, Michael Rigas, in Rome. The meeting highlighted the strength of the Italy-US partnership and offered an opportunity to exchange views on key global priorities.
Discussions focused on transatlantic cooperation, economic security and critical minerals. Views were also shared on stability in the Mediterranean and Africa, as well as on connectivity initiatives such as IMEC.
Italy’s commitment to working closely with the United States through @NATO, the #EU and the @G7 was reaffirmed, in order to advance our shared security, prosperity and values.

Today, I was honored to sign a Memorandum of Understanding to advance religious freedom, public-private partnerships, and peace and reconciliation in the Middle East and sub-Saharan Africa with Hungarian State Secretary @tristan_azbej. Societies that respect religious freedom are more stable, more prosperous, and more peaceful. Protecting religious freedom is firmly in our national interest. The United States is grateful for Hungary’s commitment to defending our common heritage and the importance of religious freedom.

Last week, I met with Ambassador Yamada Shigeo of Japan to reaffirm the strength of the U.S.-Japan Alliance and discuss our shared priorities. I was delighted to visit Northern Greece, meet with business leaders and discuss how we can open markets for U.S. businesses and increase Greek investment in the U.S. I also met with our fantastic @USConsulateThess team in Thessaloniki - gateway to the Balkans and a key Greek economic and technology hub. This trip has underscored the strategic and cultural significance of northern Greece, and its vital role in the U.S.-Greece relationship.
