Happy #PrideMonth π
At the Samaritans, we are dedicated to an active commitment of creating an inclusive and welcoming safe space for individuals to talk to us without fear of judgement or pressure. β€οΈπ§‘ππππ
We just want to say a huge thank you to all of our volunteers. We know how hard you work, and without you, none of this would be possible. π

βYou hear the benefit people get when they are just able to talk and be heard... We speak to some people at the lowest point of their life, and it's a privilege to be part of their journey in some small wayβ. ~ Kerry, a Derby Samaritans volunteer. π
#VolunteersWeek
This #VolunteersWeek, one of our amazing volunteers, Steven, has shared his thoughts:
βItβs a great feeling to be part of an extended family as a Listening Volunteer at the Derby Branch. You make new and lasting friendships and receive great support from your duty partnerβ. π
This week is #VolunteersWeek, where we celebrate the contributions of our amazing volunteers.π
Here are some words from one of our volunteers, Jack:
"You donβt need all the answers to make a difference. Sometimes, being present with someone in a difficult moment is enough"
Today is National Creativity Day, an important day for us to remember the power of imagination - and not to mention the countless studies which support the benefits of creativity on mental health!
How could you be creative today? π¨
International Tea Day is the perfect excuse to have a brew. But don't forget, some of the best conversations take place over a cuppa. π«
Get involved in #InternationalTeaDay by putting the kettle on and having a chat with someone you care about. π
Mental Health Awareness Week recognises the importance of supporting mental health in our society.
The theme for this year centres around coming together as a community to improve mental health for all. #MHAW

Last Monday we were at Derby station for #SmallTalksSaveLives
We handed out hundreds of leaflets for listening tips, and even raised some cash for the branch! π
Thank you to our amazing volunteers, the people of Derby station, EMR, and @BaggyShanker and @SamanthaNiblet4
You donβt have to be an expert to start a conversation with someone who might be struggling to cope.
A simple "Hey, are you alright?" can be all it takes to interrupt someone's suicidal thoughts. Anyone can do it. #SmallTalkSavesLivesyoutu.be/PNQTfltxo4A?si=gw1uβ¦
A recent survey has shown that 52% of Brits think small talk is a thing of the past, while more than half say that they would appreciate kind words from a stranger...
Don't miss us tomorrow at Derby station! π
#SmallTalksSaveLives
This year for #SmallTalksSaveLives, join us at Derby station on Monday 23/03/26 from 7:30am, where we'll be starting small talks to save lifes.
Remember, if someone doesnβt look OK, starting a conversation could save their life. π
