The popularity of a character such as Adam Jensen still proves he is still the defacto face of Deus Ex. Seeing all the news surrounding #DeusEx this week, I noticed that most (if not all) websites reporting the fact Embracer wants to bring back Deus Ex were using Adam Jensen as their cover image. Finishing Adam's story and bridging the gap between DXMD and DX1 has been the most requested dream of the DX community over the past decade. Many of the developers who crafted the aura of Adam's character have scattered around different studios. If there is a name that comes to mind though, I would love to see @theroguefactor take a crack at this as many former Eidos devs have moved there.

The recent comments made by Phil Rogers had a very familiar echo that I remember very well. In 2017, Square Enix CEO (at the time) Yosuke Matsuda also talked about Deus Ex as rumors were circulating that the IP was abandoned in favor of Marvel games, stating "a lack of resources". We never got that Deus Ex game we deserve, I don't care if I get hate for saying this, I love Deus Ex so much but I am so fucking tired of hearing people in charge only talking about how much Deus Ex is important to them, fans are tired of talking, we want to see actions, save the pep talk for the behind the scenes stuff. Phil Rogers, CEO of Embracer Group, has elaborated more on his idea regarding the revival of dormant IPs like Deus Ex through external collaborations. “We can’t work on everything ourselves... We could find other teams who say, ‘I’ve got this idea’, ‘I’ve got a treatment.’ This happens in other entertainment forms, right? You get treatments, and you work on that basis. Whether it’s remakes, remasters, a new treatment or an adaptation in some way.” Link: thegamebusiness.com/p/embrac…

Deus Ex fans, look at this box of goodies I found. A bunch of Adam Jensen pop figures and a bunch of bottles of Neuropozyne! This was given to me by marketing a while ago. I'm going to sign them all and put 'em up on my autograph store. Get them before they're gone! eliastoufexis.com/autograph-…

"Don't sign the contract!" Legendary game designer Warren Spector tells the story how Deus Ex almost did not happen, and how John @Romero drove down in his Hummer to stop him from signing a contract for a Command and Conquer game, and to hire him to make the game of his dreams.

Following a secret change, Eidos-Montréal Community Manager Sacha Ramtohul clarified on Reddit that the Steam cover art of Deus Ex: Game of the Year Edition and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided was changed to take advantage of Steam's graphical assets dimensions update. This was to follow Steam-wide instructions for the dimensions introduced a few months ago. link: reddit.com/r/Deusex/comments…

After the cancelation of the 2024 Deus Ex game (which was going to answer many of what the fans were hoping for, lore wise, as I managed to gather here and there but I swore not to talk about details). I was certain that Eidos Montreal will not be making another Deus Ex, Deus Ex already proved once before that it can be a big hit. But the direction the CEO seems to taken Embracer Group in is not favor of game makers or gamers, people like those need to be held accountable for cutting the source of income of many people, and for ruining the joy of many gamers.

The sad news just can't catch a break. Today, Eidos-Montréal announced the departure of 124 employee, making this the 3rd year in a row of layoffs at the studio. Studio Head David Anfossi is also leaving Eidos after nearly 2 decades. David was one of the first 3 people hired at the studio since it opened doors in 2007 and his first role was a Producer on Deus Ex: Human Revolution. In 2013, he became Studio Head. 🔗 Link: linkedin.com/posts/eidosmont…

We had it so good in the 2010s and we did not know, Deus Ex was firing on all cylinders. Then, for some reason, it all stopped. So much content we got in the span of 6 to 7 years.

The society peaked at Deus Ex Universe... Icarus Effect, The Fall, hype for Mankind Devided... We really got too close to the sun. I have one day we can go back, although with 2027/2029 just around the corner it might be awkward story wise. Alex might finally have his comeback.

Deus Ex composer Alexander Brandon has revealed that N-Fusion Interactive wanted him to do the score of Deus Ex: The Fall. Deus Ex: The Fall creative director Jeffrey Birns invited Brandon but Eidos Montreal "stepped in and said, nope, it's gonna be Mike McCann," Brandon added, "I'm sad. I don't like this. I would have even, you know, styled the music to blend with Mike McCann. And at that point I could have done a good job, but that's just the way the cookie crumbled." 🔗Link: tinyurl.com/4y32fwk4

Deus Ex composer Alexander Brandon says Eidos Montreal consulted him while they were building Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Part of the conversations included a remake of the original Deus Ex title theme to play during the end credits of HR. But it did not end up there as it was not the right fit of the musical soundscape of HR. "If I were Steve (Human Revolution audio director) and I had more time, I might have gone, 'Okay, let's all get on a call.' Because there's audio directors I've worked with that sit down and they go, 'Okay, here's the deal, here's the vision for this, here is how we handle instrumentation, here's some detail work without telling you how to do your job,' right? We didn't really have that [time]. He just said, 'Take this ball, run with it.' And sometimes that's fine. It just didn't work in that case." says Brandon. "The message from the beginning was very clear that the Montreal team was going to own Deus Ex. The franchise was theirs." 🔗Link: tinyurl.com/4y32fwk4
