"I know that's not true." @esglaude on whether it's "the economy stupid."

As of yesterday, I have decided to resign from my role as a columnist for The Washington Post — a newspaper that I love. In a moment like this, everyone needs to make their own decisions. This is the reasonfor mine. 🧵

Spoiler Alert: The Economy is ALWAYS better under Democratic Administrations!
18 Oct 2024
Has the U.S. economy, historically, been better under Republican presidents or Democratic presidents? A Republican financial analyst decided to find out. His name? Bart Starr, Jr. (Yes, the son of THAT Bart Starr.) The answer may surprise you.🧵

Jennifer @mccormickforgov ain't messing around! She is FOR women and I am FOR her!
Indiana’s extreme abortion ban is killing Hoosier women — but Mike Braun says it’s “working.” As governor, I will restore the reproductive freedoms and abortion rights of all Hoosiers. #INGovDebate #McCormickForGov

I wrote a book about your dad in '08, as I'm sure you know, Meghan. So go ahead and do it, nepo. Then I'll share what your father's advisors & others close to him told me he really thought about you. Things I had no reason to publish except to be cruel, but will happily share now in light of what you've become You go first

For those asking why Harris went on Call Her Daddy, NPR obtained audience data on the show from Edison Research: - 70% women - 76% under 35 (93% under 45) - 48% Democrat / 24% Republican / 20% Independent - 34% live in the south / 24% west / 22% northeast / 20% midwest
My message to Gen Z and millennial voters.

Kamala is delivering care For the people who give care To the people they care for Because Kamala cares
Vice President Harris: There are so many people in our country who fall in the Sandwich Generation. They're taking care of their kids and they're taking care of their aging parents. It’s just almost impossible to do it all. So I am proposing that we allow Medicare to cover in-home health care

Leadership is the ability to influence others by providing purpose, direction, and motivation. Donald Trump is a leader - a horribly toxic one. The purpose he provides to his followers is to divide, to fuel resentment, and to cultivate an “us versus them” mentality. /1
We’ve attended many Trump rallies. Tonight’s was different. As independent media, we’ve attended many Trump/MAGA rallies over the years. Typically, these events are predictable—energized, but generally orderly. We approach attendees, offer interviews, and often have pleasant, even insightful, conversations. Sometimes people decline, and we move on. We rarely feel unsafe or threatened. But tonight’s rally at Macomb Community College was different. We arrived later than usual, knowing Trump would be arriving late himself. The crowd outside was rowdier than usual, and something felt off. People were visibly drunk and high—generally not atmosphere we’ve come to expect. We were even offered drugs, something we had never experienced before. Things took a darker turn when one of our team members was sexually harassed by a man who grabbed her and tried to forcibly kiss her. This crossed a line we couldn’t ignore. The energy had shifted. Feeling unsafe, we made the decision to leave early, along with hundreds of others who, like us, saw Trump start his speech and then headed for the exits. This experience was a stark contrast to the rallies we’ve covered in the past, where we’ve always felt we could do our job without fear. Tonight was different, and if this is a sign of what’s to come, it’s deeply concerning. We’ll continue to cover these events because it’s our job, but what happened tonight in Macomb County was not acceptable. When you cultivate a culture that marginalizes women, subjugates them and when your rhetoric shows a clear disrespect we can’t be too surprised that supporters would act this way. We still processing the events of the night and we are home safe now. Thank you for listening
