As a family doctor I have grave concerns about the government legislating AGAINST best-practice.
Research tells us that supporting kids with gender-affirming spaces and processes REDUCES harm for kids.
This move by #skpoli is regressive and harmful.
As a child psychiatrist, I have grave concerns about this entire release, but this part in particular that got buried at the end:
“The province also announced parent/guardian consent for students under 16 will now be required to change a student’s name or pronouns in the school.”
UPDATE: UBC Okanagan is under evacuation order. Please leave campus immediately. If you are on campus and do not have access to transportation, please make your way to H Lot.
Everyone else, please leave the area immediately in a calm and orderly manner.

Oh boy. It was only a matter of time, but in these #infodemic times claims of #misinformation (like "bot" accusations a few years back and "girl power" in the 90s) has been co-opted and weaponized.
What claims of "misinformation" are used to perpetuate actual misinformation, we have a messy recursive situation. What can help a person trying to navigate the info in good faith, in this case perhaps to help a young person or parent? (2/3)

Yesterday, Samantha gave testimony in a case against Texas’ abortion ban.
At 20 weeks pregnant, she knew medical complications would ensure her baby could not live, but because of the law, she was forced to continue her pregnancy anyway.
