Iād go as far as to say this is the best final line. Even the great ones, āIāll always remember when the Dr was meā or āMoment has been preparedā are good, but it feels like any Doctor could say them.
āTag youāre itā feels like only Jodieās Doctor could say it. Just perfect!

'The Power of the Doctor' is the 2nd best regeneration story of the revival ('Parting of the Ways' is, of course, the best).
But "Doctor Whoever-I'm-About-To-Be....Tag, you're it!" is such an all-timer final line. Brilliant closing moment, ironically changed during the edit.

Ignore it. Start afresh with a new ā16thā Doctor. Then later on, throw in a line like -
āThe regeneration process is a bit messy. Sometimes I get sick or lose my memory. Once I turned into an old friend of mine for a few minutes before settling on my final form.ā

The "16th Doctor"/PiperGate is going both remain an enigma and an incredibly unfortunate burden on the next showrunner to either sort out or ignore. Most likely ignore for the show's health but then do you start with a new "16th" or jump to "17th"? If so, WHAT happened there?

21 yrs is an incredible run for a TV show. I have no doubt the show will be back in a few yrs with fresh blood in a 2005-style reboot.
But itās a shame. No matter what I thought of the Disney era, it wouldāve been nice to see one final special to wrap up those loose ends.

Got a lot of responses to this where fans are saying that the intention was for him to be a mixture of cultures in the future, which is logical & Iāve heard this for years. But has anyone on the original production ever actually stated this to be true? Is there anything official?
I think what I find most bizarre about Mavic Chen, is that there was no reason for the character to be Asian in the first place, let alone a man in yellowface. Why didnāt they just make him a white man, or an alien? His race is never brought up or remotely relevant to the story.

Decided to continue with DMP recons, but this time including some Big Finish stories set between ep7 & 8. Iām surprised that BF havenāt inserted more stories between ep6 & 7, given the cliffhanger doesnāt align well. These lines could easily be addressing different scenarios.

What stood out to me the most about the returned Master Plan episodes, were these little moments between the Doctor and Katarina. If only they couldāve risen to the challenge of continuing to write an ancient-historic companion, this couldāve been a really sweet relationship.

With 2 eps of Daleks Master Plan found, I wonder if the approach to a potential animation might change. Typically now theyād animate an entire story in 16:9 colour, even with 1 or 2 existing eps. But with 5 now existing, maybe they could just animate the remaining 7 in 4:3 B&W?
